Stones in his Pocket by the Stage Club

Award-winning Irish play Stones in his Pockets will make its Singapore de-but at the end of February 2014. Written by Belfast playwright Marie Jones, Stones in His Pockets was completely sold out for its’ two year run in the West End, and is now presented in Singapore by the Stage Club – Singapores oldest theatre company.
In Stones in His Pockets, a Hollywood film crew arrives in a sleepy village in County Kerry, Ireland. The impact of the crew and their needs on the small, tight-knit community is profound and makes for hilarious and often fractious relations. Two actors play all 15 roles (both male and female), which makes this play extremely exciting for the actors.
Stones in His Pockets, is directed by Nick Kenny, who has directed and performed in more than 46 West End productions. Nick trained at LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Art) and worked professionally as an actor in the West End for more than five years. He was seen in The Stage Club production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 2012 and made his directorial debut in Singapore with the Stage Club’s highly acclaimed Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell. in 2013. He looks forward to the challenge of directing Stones in His Pockets. “This play drives to the heart of community: friends, family, family-roots. It reminds us of the importance of loyalty and a grounded sense of community in the face of adversity. These themes of community, loyalty and cultural tolerance will definitely resonate with Singapore audiences,” says Nick.
The Stage Club is proud to be the first theatre company to bring this sharply satiric play, to Singapore, with its vivid landscape, laughter, tears and unbridled joy.
