PUBLISHED June 9th, 2017 08:59 pm | UPDATED July 22nd, 2024 02:34 pm
Hailed “one of Brazil’s finest exports” by Mixmag, Barcelona-based ANNA is ready to take on 2017 and expand her ever-growing career. After finding her calling at 14 in her father’s popular Brazil nightclub, ANNA has leapt from success to success in the music industry, most recently bagging the Best Breakthrough Artist 2016 at DJ Awards in Ibiza.
ANNA’s unique beats and great mix has taken her around the world on countless gigs, from Warung and D-Edge in Brazil to Rex Club in Paris and London’s Tobacco Dock on New Year’s with Carl Cox. Her tunes are also a regular soundtrack in party capital Ibiza, with her stints at Space Ibiza Closing and Solomon +1 on the island.
We caught up with her before she’s set to appear at Ultra Singapore on Sunday, 11 June 2017.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Amparo, a city about two hours outside of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Describe your surroundings right now.
I’m in Barcelona right now, in the studio set up in my flat.
What is your best memory of DJ-ing?
Playing for Carl Cox at Space Ibiza. The whole night was magic! Meeting Carl and playing at his party was a dream come true for me.
What’s the best thing about being on tour? And what’s the worst?
The best thing is that I get to know a lot of new people and new places, and I can play my music for different crowds with different cultures; it is very interesting to see how they react to my music in each country. That said, it is very tiring and being away from the ones I love is difficult.
Which country throws the best parties?
I have to say, Spain!
Do you have any pre- or post-show rituals?
I always meditate before my shows, and also before my studio sessions.
If you had to create a playlist to listen to for the rest of your life, which 3 artists would you put on it?
Bon Iver, Caribou, and Bob Marley.
What is your favourite track of the moment?
Johannes Heil – Exile 007 A1.
Who would you most like to collaborate with, and why?
Daniel Snaith (aka Caribou), I am a huge fan of his and he is amazing in the studio. The way he processes each element of his tracks, and just anything regarding his technique amazes me.
What can we expect from your set at Ultra 2017?
Good vibrations, good energy and Techno!
