Who doesn’t love gelato, especially when it is always hot and humid in Bali? Here are a few gelato and ice cream shops in Bali frequented by both locals and tourists.
Gusto Gelato & Café
Gusto Gelato started off as a small café in Umalas. As their popularity grew, they moved to bigger place in Kerobokan to cater to the crowd. But even with the expanded seating, Gusto Gelato is still always packed. You might experience a bit of a queue during the day but the wait would be worthwhile. They have a wide range of gelato and sherbet, which is freshly made every day.
For something different, why not try the savoury sherberts at Gusto Gelato like Chilli, Lemongrass, and Basil? With 32 flavours of gelato and 15 flavours of sherbets, the hardest part would be deciding which flavours to try. It does help that the café allows you to have up to 5 flavours in cup for Rp. 125k or 2 flavours for Rp. 22k. Gusto Gelato opens 6 days a week; Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 10pm.

Massimo
Massimo is an Italian restaurant at Sanur that serves gelato on top of savoury dishes. Priding themselves on producing traditional and homely Italian specialties, their renowned gelato selection is made from scratch using real fruits and nuts, sans flavouring and additives. Expect flavours like apricot, green tea, kiwi fruit, coffee, bubble gum, and fruit punch. You can get your gelato in either a cup or in one of their home made cones with two flavors from only Rp 20k to 25k or maxi cup at Rp 49k.

Gaya Gelato
Gaya Gelato produces their gelato with the best raw, natural and organic ingredients available. Artificial flavors, preservatives and food colouring is strictly prohibited in Gaya’s gelatos. Their coconut sorbet is tropical and refreshing with cinnamon orange gelato woven in, absolutely surprising and delish! Gaya Gelato is one of the famous gelato at Ubud. Now with two new locations in the South (one is near double six and one at Echo Beach in Canggu) it means that you don’t have to go the distance for a taste of their mouthwatering ice cream. Prices range from Rp. 20 k to Rp. 35 k depending on the number of scoops. They also have delivery service for the days when you’re too lazy to leave the house, even for gelato.

Lello Lello
Located across from Samaya Resort, Lello Lello one of the more well-known gelato stores in Seminyak. On top of popular flavours like dragonfruit and salted caramel, they have stand out ones like The New Yorker – a cream cheese concoction studded with home-made New York cheesecake. If you’re looking for something lighter and more refreshing, Mint and watermelon would perfect. Prices range from Rp. 25k for one scoop to six scoops for Rp. 90k. Besides gelato, Lello Lello offers cakes, juices, and coffee as well. Psst, Lello Lello’s next-door neighbour is an Indian restaurant; we can’t see something smarter than having spicy curry and having gelato to cool down after.

Gelato Secrets
Since 2009, Gelato Secrets has been using the best fruits, vegetables and spices in the island of Bali. With pink as their main colour to their decor, it provides the place with a sweet and rosy feel. Deep tubs of freshly swirled gelato and ice cream come in so many flavours that you’re definitely spilt for choice. They also have a variety of cakes – especially in conjunction with festive seasons – on offer. Expect things like pumpkin hazelnut for Halloween and gingerbread for Christmas, as well as chocolate products in unique packaging (such as the Lipstick Chocolate gelato).
The cones at Gelato Secrets are all made fresh from the oven every day along with their popular gelato flavours Malaga Rum & Raisin, Pistacchio Sicilia, Coco Pandan, and Tiramisu. The gelatos here are sold at Rp. 25k for one scoop or Rp. 40k for two.
