Frontier Danceland presents MILIEU 2023

One’s maturity grows with experience,
One’s reflexivity deepens with time.

Artistic director, Low Mei Yoke (Singapore) takes centre stage in MILIEU 2023, featuring a full-length creation, a . part in collaboration with Ong Yong Lock (Hong Kong / Malaysia) and Loke Soh Kim (Malaysia). Through the unique immediacy of live theatre, the work embarks on a retrospective performance journey to share introspection and mull over lived experience, longing and time. a . part is joined by former assistant artistic director, Chiew Peishan (Singapore) with an intimate reflection on the intricate relationship from her years of working with Frontier Danceland. a . part also features music composer, Kent Lee (Malaysia) in the crafting of the sonic landscape with live performance improvisation.

An invitation for audiences to witness the embodiment of over four decades of dance-making by a veteran dance artist and the performance-making traces of Frontier Danceland, MILIEU 2023 endeavours to hold space for both artists and audiences to share sensibilities and seed refreshed connections to dance and everyday living.

刘美玉（新加坡）和新典现代舞蹈团透过剧场的现场性出发，涵括舞蹈回顾和表演、从自我关照、提问、渴望与成长中，呼唤创作伙伴骆素琴（马来西亚）和王荣绿（香港 / 马来西亚）参与其中，以舞的段落铺陈，共筑她舞蹈生涯中不同时刻的跌宕。同时也邀请舞团的前副艺术总监蒋佩杉（新加坡），以即亲密又他者的身份，创作她与舞团多年合作所交集出的微妙关系。此外，音乐人李河健（马来西亚）将通过现场即兴演奏打造玄妙的声音景观。

这是一场邀请观众一同见证四十年多年的舞蹈人与舞团走过的痕迹，让观与被观者的感知，凝聚成一场向舞蹈、生命迸发前进的力量。
