Da Laura Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, in collaboration with Abbazia di Novacella, has organised a wine dinner on Wednesday 5th March. Costanza Maag will introduce the new vintages of some of the most representative wines Abbazia di Novacella produces.
The Abbazia di Novacella is located in the northern-most winegrowing region on the southern side of the Alps. The mineral-rich soils, the elevation (1,970 ft – 2,950 ft) and the cool climate are all factors which explain the intense aromas and flavours as well as fruity, mouth-watering acidity found in our wines produced from the typical white grape varieties of the Isarco valley. The long drawn-out ripening period extending well into the autumn is crucial. The most widely-grown vines in our vineyards around Varna just north of Bressanone are Sylvaner, Kerner, Gewürztraminer and Veltliner. The monastery complex is the largest in Tyrol.
The Augustinian Canons Regular monastery of Neustift was founded by the Bishop of Brixen in 1142 at the meeting point of two important transit and pilgrimage routes, one coming from the Brenner Pass, the other from the Pustertal valley.
