Rang Mahal will be flying renowned Gujarati cuisine caterer, Tapan Chokshi and his team of chefs from, Ahmedabad, Gujarat for a 10-day festival held at the restaurant from 24 May to 2 June 2019. Tapan together with Rang Mahal’s Corporate Chef, Milind Sovani will team up to present an array of authentic traditional Gujarati dishes. With healthier dining options being sought after, diners can expect the esteemed duo mixing spices and ingredients to display a unique blend of flavours, with a wide variety of vegetarian dishes available for both lunch and dinner.
Tapan and his mother, Sarojben Chokshi, who is one of the pioneers for catering at Gujarati weddings, has catered to over 400 global functions for top industrialist and large corporate events in the last 38 years. Their expertise in authentic Gujarati cuisine and has gained popularity amongst the who’s who with soaring reviews internationally.
The flavours derived from Gujarati style cuisine is distinctive from other Indian cuisine with sugar or jaggery traditionally added to sweeten up the dishes. During the festival, diners can anticipate all- time Gujarati favourites such as, Keri No Ras, a serving of fresh tangy sweet mango pulp; Karela Sabzi, a healthy serving of crispy bitter gourd and onions in curry; Tadka Undhiyu, a hallmark one- pot Gujarati vegetable casserole; Vaal Nu Shaak, a fiery curry made from protein-rich butter beans; Besan Chutney, made with a mixture of Indian spices, chickpea flour and yoghurt; and Kesar Shrikhand, a sugary dish made from strained yoghurt with a dash of saffron for aroma. Two live Dhokla stations will be set up, providing diners with servings of a fermented batter of rice and chickpeas. Nothing completes the experience like freshly made Moong Dal Paratha, Be Padi Roti and Phulka; traditional Gujarati bread perfect for dips.
Lunch will be served buffet-style and available from 12pm to 2.30pm daily. Dinner will be available from 6.30pm and diners will be treated to a specially curated 4-course fine dining set menu. Both lunch and dinner will consist of a full vegetarian spread. Non-vegetarian options can be ordered from Rang Mahal’s a la carte menu.
