Jala Neti is a process of cleaning the nasal passage with salt water, it will allow the free breathing, as well as in helping to ensure your good health. First of all, the air we breathe contains dust and small insects. The nose structure with some defences such as hairs, mucus membrane and glands help us to prevent or trap them. If the nose is blocked, or if the mucus membrane are profused covered in impurities, then the nose cannot perform its duties effectively. When the nose is blocked, we try to blow our noses to remove these impurities, but dry mucus can remain. This is one of the reasons that the practice of neti was developed: to ensure the best possible cleaning of the nose.
Neti is known as the best method of preventing and eliminating cold. Regular practice of neti keeps the nasal passage working at optimum efficiency and thereby helps to maintain a healthy body. Neti is also help in curing sinusitis, ailments of the eyes, nose and throat. Do neti every week to prevent and cure lung disease such as athma, pneumonia, bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis. There are other reasons for the use of Neti such as the stimulation of various nerve ending in the nose, and 3rd eye (ajna chakra) and the midbrain psychic center.
