Japanese Film Festival 2015

The Japanese Film Festival returns for its 22nd edition on these shores, running from the 9th of July through the 8th of August. The festival is organised by the Japan Creative Centre, in collaboration with the Singapore Film Society, the Japan Foundation, and the National Museum of Singapore. Festival films will be screened at the Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore, and The Projector at Golden Mile Tower.
The festival’s handpicked films are divided into 3 categories: ‘Currents’, ‘Culinary Cinema’ and ‘Restrospective’. The ‘Retrospective’ category features the work of lauded Japanese filmmaker Okamoto Kihachi, who passed away in 2005. Much of his work, including classics like Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo, Kill!, Judo Saga, and Samurai Assassin, will be screened, all on 35mm celluloid. The festival will also have Mystery film screenings, where the film being screened will not be revealed until the event.
