Just Opened March 2023: New Restaurants, Cafés and Bars in Singapore This Month

This month, march into these new restaurants, cafes and bars in Singapore, armed with stunning interiors, ingredients from all over the world and dishes that’ll have you coming back for more. Your all-time favourites have also re-opened to bring you all new exciting ambiance and tastes. Here’s what to keep a lookout for:

Restaurants

Restaurant Chedi

Contemporary Thai restaurant, Restaurant Chedi has made its way along Hamilton Road in a 1930s shophouse. The restaurant evokes a laidback, understatedly sophisticated ambiance, whilst offering authentic flavours of Thailand, with freshness and seasonality in mind. For the opening, Chef-Owner K-Jin Lim and Head Chef Miller Mai have curated an adventuresome 8-course tasting menu (S$148++). Highlights include Miang kham (wild betel leaf, Rayong dried shrimp, and Hokkaido ikura), Tom kha gai (baked chicken wings with foie gras infused sticky rice), and Signature salted ikan kurau fried rice, featuring six-month cured threadfin.

Chifa

Taste the rare combination of Peruvian-Chinese flavours at Resorts World Sentosa’s (RWS) newest concept restaurant – CHIFA! An instant mood-lifter, the restaurant sports colorful décor, neon signs, textiles and backdrops of the iconic Peru rainbow mountain. The vibrancy continues in the dishes where traditional Peruvian gourmet elements meet Chinese eastern influences. Try the Red Snapper Ceviche Carretillero (S$24), served with a tangy and slightly spicy sauce, calamari sweet potatoes and banana chips, and the Bijao Wrapped Fish and “Sudado” (S$48). Wash it all down with refreshing cocktails such as the rum-based LAGUNA 69 (S$20), mixing together blue curacao, pineapple, fresh lime, and agave nectar.

Humpback

After a two-month-long renovation, Jigger & Pony Group’s seafood restaurant Humpback, has reopened its doors. Perfect for dates or nights out with close friends, look forward to an inventive seafood-centric menu with Japanese influences in the form of House-Cured Hamachi Pastrami ($18), Ricotta Cavatelli ($28) with chunks of smokey swordfish bacon, as well as Whole Marble Goby ($52). They’ve also kept their seasonal roster of oysters from the American Pacific Northwest region (going at S$4++ each during happy hour. To top it all off, get sipping with a wine menu that reads like a Spotify playlist – think cheeky categories like It’s (Almost) Always Sunny in Bukit Pasoh and The “Strawberry” Generation.

Hanazen

Visionary chef Yusuke Takada has made waves world-wide with his culinary stride at his two-Michelin-starred and World’s 50 Best Restaurant La Cime in Osaka. Now, the chef is entering the food space in Singapore with the opening of HANAZEN. Opening on 12 March 2023 at CHIJMES, the restaurant doubles up as a charcoal-grilled Omakase and French brasserie. This will also translate to the food boasting the smoky char of traditional Japanese charcoal-grilled dishes imbued with an innovative French touch. For now, the restaurant will be open for dinner, while the lunch and brasserie menu will be launched progressively.

Ten+

A play on the word ‘tent’, Ten+ is Singapore’s first safari themed bistro that simulates what dining in nature feels like — but much more aesthetic and comfy. Incorporating the beauty of the wilderness into its concept, the camp-like dining experience is also a great escape from the busy city life thanks to cosy wood and canvas furniture and surrounding lush greenery. The fuss-free menu offers the best of both Western and Eastern cuisines and self-grilled barbecue with dishes like Crispy Pork Knuckle (S$32), Flame Grilled Angus Burger (S$23) and more.

Tandoor

Get ready to dine like a royal as beloved Indian restaurant Tandoor repones at Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre after a two-year hiatus. Back with a new menu, Chef Sunder and team wows with exceptional flavours like the weet and spicy mango curry Kacche Aam ki Sabzi (S$32), cinnamon-smoked Malmali Seekh Kebab (from S$24), and royal Ayurvedic recipe Nalli Gosht (S$40). Cafes

TAG Espresso

After its success at Raffles City Shopping Centre, TAG Espresso has unveiled its new outlet in Takashimaya Shopping Centre. The serene garden-themed café has got all the goods in stock including fresh coffee, made with freshly roasted 100% Arabica beans from the likes of Ethiopia, Columbia, Guatemala, Brazil and Sumatra. You can also sip on a range of specialty drinks including Rose Coconut Latte (S$8.50), or Kaya Pandan Latte (S$9). The drinks are complemented with a Japanese fusion menu with lip-smacking bites like Smoky Fried Rice, Fish and Chips and Sirloin Beef Steak with onsen egg.

Bars

Fizzy Dayz

Founded by Asia’s 50 Best 2022 Industry Icon recipient, Colin Chia and his team at Nutmeg & Clove, FIZZY DAYZ is a causal Diner Bar serving no-hassle delicious High Ball Tipples and diner style bar grub. Sporting a carbonated drinks menu, make everything fizzy from classic cocktails (from S$9.90), to beers (from S$9.90), daiquiri slushies (S$18), and even wines (from S$9.90). To nibble on, what better than sinful Mac & Cheese (S$16), Spaghetti & Meatballs (S$24) and the signature Nashville Chicken Waffle Burger (S$22) with crispy chicken thigh, waffles, spicy hot sauce and maple syrup.

Wine Meadow

A spin-off of modern Californian restaurant Rosemead, Wine Meadow is the new respite you’re looking for. Located at the patio adjacent to Rosemead, the spot is the only wine bar in Singapore’s Central Business District with full al fresco seating. On the menu, you’ll be greeted with a rotating selection of easy-drinking, warm weather climate wines. To accompany your boozy nights, tapas like Mozzarella marinated with olive oil and herbs (S$14), and tuna stuffed Piquillo Peppers (S$12) are  bound to hit the spot – or sink your teeth in the uber-addictive Bikini Sandwich (S$19).
