Koh BLaCK – Your weekly dose of Deep Tech House & Rollin’ Techno. With this week’s edition featuring Answer Code Request (Berghain Resident, DE).
As the first EP from Answer Code Request 2011 suddenly hung on the wall of Berlin’s famous record store Hard Wax, the web started to speculate. Was this another incarnation of a techno protagonists from the immediate environment of Marcel Dettmann about, or Shed? Many were sure it would be so, even if further discussion was quickly agreed that the music on this mysterious 12 “such different caliber was that it would be a pretty bold reinvention. The industrial impact, the heavy groove and the firm determination that were joined sound with the sound of Berghain and Ostgut were there, but many layers acted differently, suggested a different handwriting. The Berlin techno heritage was here associated with the melancholy of Detroit, but also with the heyday of the English “Artificial Intelligence” and later rhythmic innovations of local Bass Music, and resulted in a completely fresh and original sound. The musical concept stood out so clearly from existing developments from that here obviously not an already established artist explored new ways, but a new Artist dismissed the new path, and nothing less.
If you listen to the music of Answer Code Request, either on its amazing items, as corresponding amazing live act, or in the form of its diverse and impressive converted DJ sets, the pieces fit together. Answer Code Request needed some more time to come into focus, because he wanted it as well. He waited until everything was perfect, and ready to go. And then he took much less time than almost any other for his breakthrough, and remained, that’s why.
