French music producer Olivier Raymond, better known as Oxia, is releasing his 20-track CD house/techno mix – kyō 001 mixed by Oxia – on November 3 on Beatport. It features works from DJ Koze, Matthias Tanzmann, Philip Bader, Nick Curly, Oxia’s ‘Perception’ and a Robag Wruhme remix of Moderat’s ‘Bad Kingdom’ to Carl Craig’s remix of Theo Parrish’s ‘Falling Up’. This crossover mix brings about a heat-seeking, quality relentless groove that is persistent yet adventurous and uplifting.
Behind the worldwide hit ‘Domino’, Olivier has come a long way since he first starting mixing at 15. From a large spectrum of influences in early music styles such as electro-funk, italo disco & funk, new wave and the early Chicago and New York house scene, to his own productions in albums ’24 Heures’ and ‘Tides of Mind’, he has demonstrated a mastery of the house and techno crossover.
kyō 001 mixed by Oxia does just that. It manipulates the disparate musical el-ements to a unity, also inspired by Club kyō, which Oxia performed at early this year. Club kyō is Singapore’s quintessential dance club, orchestrating the house and techno-centric soundscapes: one that is liberating, beautiful yet meaningfully experimental with a cause to evoke kyō’s adventurous spirit.
kyō 001 mix CD is released by kyō Records and it is the first in the label series to showcase, build and document the sound of kyō for its international listeners and clubbers now and in the future. kyō 001 mixed by Oxia, which will see its launch night at kyō in the last quarter of 2014, resonates with the definitive sound of kyō’s Saturday FORWARD nights that have seen forward-thinking inter-national guests Funk D’Void, Ben UFO, Sigha and Kirk Degiorgio, leading a coup d’état amid the sea of EDM-driven clubs, bringing forth the underground musical stratosphere that is simply kyō.
Oxia shares: ‘This mix is an inspiration of the moment, and I envisioned the at-mosphere of the club and this inspired the mix. I wanted a mix that was for the dancefloor… groovy and of course, melodic.’
