Kam Ning and Albert Tiu team up for Mendelssohn’s Double Concerto for Violin and Piano, a work composed when he was just fourteen. One of Strauss’ final masterpieces, Metamorphosen was written in 1945 in reaction to the wartime destruction of several German cities. Underlying this poignantly beautiful work, which was originally scored for seven string instruments, is a sense of despair and nostalgia.
