Ombre Concepts Review: Are 30 Minute Express Facial Treatments Starting At Just S$28, Worth It?

In a fast-paced world where we somehow have to manage work, home, social-life and our sanity, fluctuating hormone levels, uncooperative skin and societal standards has honestly got us beat. Beauty lover or not, realistically, setting aside a good chunk of our time for facial treatment, finding affordable prices and in an easily accessible location almost seems like a fruitless endeavour. Or so we thought.

Cue Ombré – a quick pampering  solution for time-strapped individuals. The homegrown and newly established brand seamlessly combines 30 years of experience in the local beauty industry with new-age technology promising  rehydrating, effective and rejuvenating treatments. But we have to say the best part has to be the friendly time-stamp and prices that start from a humble S$28.

Treatments They Offer

Located in the heartland of Serangoon in Singapore, Ombre offers five types of express facial treatments that can all be done in under 30 minutes. Amongst the list are:

• Hydracleean (S$28) – a swift 15-minute deep clean, exfoliation and hydration treatment using an advanced vacuum technology to dislodge and remove impurities.
• Hydrafusion (S$58) – A 30-minute treatment that incorporates Thermotherapy + Cryotherapy.
• Endymed V-Lift Jawline & Under Chin (S$98) – 30-minute optimal
  and painless collagen re-modeling
• Endymed Upper & Under Eye Lift (S$98) – 30-minute long term collagen re-modeling
• Mesojet (S$58) – 30-minute treatment using a high pressure air jet combined with supersonic technology for brighter, smoother and hydrated skin.

First Impressions & What We Opted For

A five minute walk from NEX mall, Ombre is housed within a buzzing HDB estate, surrounded by a happening market. But a step within the beauty studio is like stepping in a different world. Inside, the crisply lit studio features hues of green, the scent of relaxing Eucalyptus, and cheerfully friendly faces of the team behind the brand. While smaller than most beauty salons with limited bed spots and machinery (we highly recommend booking an appointment!), we like the fact that the tools were frequently sterilised and cleaned.

After a quick consultation with the Ombre team, we opted for the Hydrafusion (S$58) and Endymed V-Lift Jawline & Under Chin (S$98) treatments for my dehydrated, dull and acne-prone skin.

The former began with a Hydraclean machine and an extraction scrubber, where the beautician expertly de-clogged, cleansed and exfoliate the skin. This process was slightly painful due to the acne, blackhead and whitehead extraction process, though, this seems pretty typical of any facial treatment. What made the treatment more exciting was the Thermotherapy + Cryotherapy that followed. Using a red light, the former is a therapeutic application of gentle heat to the skin. This aids in blood circulation, and softens the skin and prepares it for the deep absorption of active ingredients.

Right after, the skin is exposed to an intense cold temperature through the Cryotherapy treatment. This helps stimulate collagen production, reduces puffiness and tightens appearance of skin and pores. During both the therapeutic treatments, the beautician chooses from five different Ombre  ampoules to tackle different skin conditions and skin types. Think serums like Hyaluronic ampoule, Mandelic acid ampoule, Copper peptide ampoule, Ceramide ampoule and Arbutin ampoule.

Our Thoughts: This treatment seemed well worth the time and money for us. Both therapeutic applications seemed ultra cleansing and rejuvenating with pretty apparent results of brighter-looking skin. Throughout the treatment, I did find my facial muscles relaxing and getting a much needed lymphatic draining. Thanks to the ampoule, I also walked away with super soft and hydrated and bouncy skin.

The Endymed V-Lift Jawline & Under Chin is one for those seeking an Angelina Jolie sculpted jaw. The treatment is a non-invasive lifting and contouring facial treatment that utilises a controlled and focused 3DEEP RF Technology that penetrates the dermis layer of skin with minimal epidermal heat, reducing fat and giving one a more sculpted appearance.

Our Thoughts: Though we probably won’t opt for the treatment again, it did do some lifting of the cheeks and shaping of the jawline. The difference was not too apparent, and if you really wanted prominent results, more sessions would be required – after all, Rome was not built in a day. The constant rubbing (especially over previously extracted acne and pores) also caused a little irritation on the skin, so we suggest getting the treatment on a different day as your deep-cleansing facial.

Treatments aside, the beauty studio also offers its self ampoules and serums for home use. These affordable skincare can be purchased at the payment counters and the friendly staff expertly picks out which one will work for you the best. I enjoyed the rest of the week feeling confident and super hydrated. The best part was definitely the  hassle- and haggle-free service and no-hard selling practices.
