Pura Petitenget is a string of sea temples, built in the 15th century that is known for its beach-side ceremonies. The site is scenic but is minor in importance as it is not one of the key directional temples. According to legend, the construction of the temple was prompted by a local priest who observed that people going into the jungle were returning ill. He thought this was due to a dark spirit and the solution would be to build a shrine for protection and thus the temple was built. The temple is pretty, covered with many overgrowing vines. For maximum beauty make your visit at dusk!
