Review: Found8 Amoy Offers Flexible, Startup-Friendly Co-Working in Amoy Street, Singapore

These days, co-working spaces tend to flaunt quite the range of lifestyle frills – we’re talking specialty coffee bars, exercise bikes, and craft beer on tap. And while all these add spice to working life, they aren’t exactly top-of-mind for startups or freelancers with more ambition than funds. For lean, mean teams just looking for a launchpad to take off, Found8 Amoy is the perfect match.

One of four Found8 offices dotted across Singapore and KL, Found8 Amoy is plumb in the dining haven of Amoy Street – just a couple of minutes’ stroll from Telok Ayer MRT. Keeping relatively low on frills, what Found8 offers is something better: a thriving ecosystem for young businesses, and a fabulously flexible, bankroll-friendly range of packages to match.

Design

Spread over four storeys, Found8 Amoy sees four heritage shophouse units combined into one chic, cosy co-working space. Warm wood textures play up the soothing vibes, as does a colour palette of blue and green tones – teal, turquoise, royal blue. You’ll also spot doodles by street artist duo Ripple Root adding a fun splash of pastels to many of the walls.

Unlike the cavernous, open-floor plan that you see in many co-working spaces, Found8 Amoy is built for a little more privacy. There’re your usual rows of hotdesks and spacious breakout areas (well-furnished with plush rugs and sofas), but you’ll also find single tables tucked here and there for those who like having their own pocket of space. This is especially so on the light-filled upper levels, where you’ll wind your way through a maze of private offices dotted with snug nooks for hotdeskers.

Facilities

Starting from a pocket-friendly S$90 for two days a month, the Hot Desk Flexi plan gets you access to your pick of hotdesk spots – a versatile range from tables with a view of the buzzy street to cosy alcoves with booth-style seats. Meanwhile, higher-tier plans like the Hot Desk Lite (S$395 per month) feature free meeting room usage from one hour a month onwards.

The glass-walled meeting rooms run the gamut from privacy for two to spacious ones that might fit ten comfortably. Each meeting room comes furnished with a filled water jug plus mugs in one corner – a thoughtful touch. For your snacking convenience, there’s a pantry stocked with staples like coffee on each level.

Office Perks

All Found8 members can tap into a strong ecosystem of entrepreneurs, investors, and thought leaders for support. Found8 has ties to Aurum Investments – a Singapore-based, multi-million-dollar venture capital fund helmed by Found8 co-founder Michelle Yong – so early stage startups can potentially get access to backing for their big ideas. To get members upskilling, Found8 also runs members-only events to equip budding founders with the right know-how – think talks on building a disruptive brand, essentials like website optimisation, and fireside chats with venture capitalists.

Found8 is Singapore’s official partner for Google for Startups APAC, which means that members can get access to Google connections, not to mention the Google for Startups Passport – a program which enables startups in the partner network to work from over 50 spaces worldwide. If you’re opting for the Hot Desk Unlimited package (S$495/month), you’ll also get unlimited access to all Found8 spaces in Singapore and  Malaysia – which only means more chances to make connections.

That’s not forgetting the lifestyle perks, of course. Found8 members can make full use of the buffet of dining options on their doorstep, with 10% discounts at Chico Loco and Sarnies. You can also up your fitness game with 10% off starter packages at Core Collective, or stay connected with corporate deals at Circles.Life.

Our verdict? Smack in the heart of the CBD, the location combines convenient transport options with the best of Amoy Street and Ann Siang dining at your doorstep. There’re plenty of opportunities for young, hungry startups to get networking, and the flexible pricing is a serious plus point too.

Found8 Amoy is located at 100 Amoy St, Singapore 069920, p. +65 9658 3813. Found8 has two other Singapore branches located at High Street Centre and Tanjong Pagar.
