Marina Bay Sands® is a strong supporter of the underprivileged community, having raised more than S$16 million through its annual Sands for Singapore Charity Festival since 2013. This year is no different; from 8 – 10 September 2017, come witness the integrated resort’s transformation into a hub of meaningful and exciting charity events! Filled with an attractive variety of leisure, music, and sports, the event will donate all its proceeds to various local charities and non-profit organisations like the Association for Persons with Special Needs, Art Outreach Singapore, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, Dyslexia Association of Singapore, Singapore Association for the Deaf, and Singapore International Film Festival – so you know you’ll be supporting a range of great causes.
The Sands for Singapore Charity Festival will kick off with a Sundown Picnic held on all three evenings. Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza will be transformed into a picture-perfect picnic setting, featuring mouth-watering dishes from the integrated resort’s award-winning celebrity chef restaurants (db Bistro & Oyster Bar, Osteria and Pizzeria Mozza & Adrift). We all know that a good outdoor picnic is only complete with live music, so local bands Too Much Drama and The Summer State will each perform a set on Friday (8 Sep) and Saturday (9 Sep) while you feast with your family and friends. On Sunday (10 Sep), Grammy-nominated local conductor Darrell Ang will also put up an energetic music performance with several young musicians in tow. That’s not all for entertainment; picnic-goers can also look forward to Spectra, the new light and water show happening daily at 8pm and 9pm with an additional show at 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This dazzling display of state-of-the-art lasers, lighting, water effects and projections is bound to enchant and leave you feeling full of wonder. All F&B proceeds from the Sundown Picnic will be donated to local charities.
For those who prefer an indoor musical experience, be sure to catch The Sichuan Orchestra of China – led by Singaporean music maestro Darrell Ang – perform live on 8 September, 7.30pm at the MasterCard Theatres. Experience a repertoire of popular symphonic spectaculars such as Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor Overture, Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Beethoven’s Symphony no. 5 during the Orchestra’s inaugural concert in Singapore. The concert will also feature a special appearance by internationally-renowned South Korean pianist Cho Seong-Jin. Tickets start at S$60 for the two-hour concert and all proceeds will go to Art Outreach’s IMPART Awards Scholarship Fund.
On 10 September, head down to Marina Bay Sands’ Event Plaza to cheer for the participants of Play It Forward, the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival’s signature charity challenge. Show your support for each team of six as they go head to head in a journey across the integrated resort to solve intellectual and creative challenges and win up to $120,000 for local charities. This year, kids also have the chance to give back with the first-ever junior edition of Play It Forward. Come join the action through a live broadcast of the games at the Event Plaza and show your support for the teams as they play to win for the charities they represent.
In addition, you can do your part for charity by paying a visit to ArtScience Museum, heading up to the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck, or by taking the Sampan Ride at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands – from 8 to 10 September, all ticket proceeds collected from these attractions will be donated to local charities to help the underprivileged community. If these activities have been on your list of things to do, then there’s no reason not to head down now!
The Sands for Singapore Charity Festival 2017 will also see two activities held in conjunction with Community Chest on 9 September – namely the 4km Fun Walk around the Marina Bay waterfront circuit and the more adrenaline-pumping ‘Race to the Sky’ Vertical Marathon up Marina Bay Sands’ Hotel Tower 3 to the Sands Skypark on the 57th floor. So whether you’re a veteran marathoner or someone who enjoys a leisurely amble, you’ll be able to be a part of something bigger and show your support for local charities. Register here to get started!
