Foodies all over rejoice! The Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) has organized the very first Singapore Restaurant Month in conjunction with Singapore Food Festival and SG50. From 1 July to 10 August 2015, the month long event will see diners indulging in 50 different restaurants with 50 new and exclusive dishes for this inaugural event.
One of the main focuses for Singapore Restaurant Month is highlighting local produce and traditional dishes. For instance, the Timbre Group’s take on the Laksa features marinated crispy barramundi farmed locally at Kühlbarra, located on the south coast of Singapore. This would be one of the many examples of how the festival marries the concepts of innovation and local produce.
‘We hope to spread awareness about the quality of local produce on both industry and consumer levels, enticing F&B operators to consider local produce when it comes to ingredients procurement,’ says Mr. Andrew Tjioe, Executive Chairman of the Tung Lok Group. In short, Singapore Restaurant Month would be an excellent developmental platform for the Singapore culinary industry!
Traditional heritage restaurants, such as Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant, Red Star Restaurant, Islamic Restaurant, and Fatty Weng Restaurant will also be involved in the event. Do take note that the culinary creations of the heritage restaurants will only be available from 17 July to 2 August 2015, so book early to avoid disappointment.
