TROPICAL TEMPLE

It’s time again to let those pulsating tropical rhythms take over your limbs & invade your senses. Immerse yourself in an eclectic mix of deep, funky, tribal and soulful tunes from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, covering everything from vintage analog boogie, to new electronic & pop music.

This ain’t your mom & pop’s version of “World Music”! Tropical Temple is all about bringing raw energy and real culture, identity and rhythm of the global dance floor to Singapore. Your humble selectors have only this goal in mind: Expand your musical horizons and get your body moving!

Featuring:

> RAH (Darker Than Wax)

“RAH’s distinct eclectic style has reached out to discerning crowds around the region. With her solid affiliation to independent label Darker Than Wax (SG), RAH constantly reinvents herself by exploring the diaspora of black music. RAH’s sets all rest on a common ground of percussive patterns, melodic rhythm, and bass, and for Tropical Temple she will treating us to her special Afro-Caribbean blend, keeping your feet moving and souls content.”

> SHELLSUIT (Sideshow)

“The man, the myth, the funk-soul brother behind some of Singapore’s most iconic beloved parties, Pushin’ On and Sunday at The Training Shed. ‘Nuff said.”

> BHAYOLOGY (Tropical Temple)

“Starting as a radio DJ in NYC, Bhayology has been organizing & DJing parties to expose dancefloors to exciting new pan-African sounds over the last 4 years in San Francisco, Jakarta, and now Singapore. He’ll be spinning the freshest Tropical Bass coming from the Global South: afrobeats, kuduro, soca, cumbia, moombahton, baile funk, rasterinha, tribal house, and much more.”

With Very Special Guest:

**> KOSTAS KREP (KiloWatt Soundsystem)**
“Kostas had his first pirate radio station in Greece before graduating high-school, and then it all went downhill after that. In Amsterdam he hosted a weekly program in the legendary pirate station RADIO 100, and in Singapore he co-hosted Eklektikon in the internet based station SONAR RADIO. He got involved in the Dragon Kiln reggae parties, and then went on to co-found Kilowatt Soundsystem, trying to bridge different sounds at irregular, indoor and outdoor events all across Singapore. For this month’s Tropical Temple you can expect a vinyl set of afrofunk & afrodisco, together with modern latin & african beats.”
