Hailing from Miami, DJ & producer Danny Daze aka Daniel Gomez has been heavily praised for his versatility; his freeform selecting and mercurial mixing guarantees a musical experience for the audiences.
We had a chat with Danny Daze before his gig at Kilo Lounge for After Dark on Saturday, 28 November 2015.
I got into DJ-ing… because I saw a DJ at my middle school dance. He was scratching with vinyl, which is what initially got me interested in the art of turntablism. I then progressed to techno.
My music is…constantly evolving. I go back to production styles I had 10 years ago and fuse it with new techniques and ideas now. I’ve always been influenced by Miami Bass, techno, and electro.
The scene in Miami back in the early 2000s’…was more electro and experimental, something that I was part of. Now a days things are much easier to find, therefore they’re much easier to put it out in the trash. I think the Miami scene is now coming back around to a solid music foundation now that the EDM world is sort of fizzling.
I’m inspired by…Friends, happiness, sadness, music I hear in taxi cabs. Anything that involves some sort of emotion along with trying to be different, really.

My most memorable gig is…closing the night at Warung in Brazil. It’s a club right on the water where the sun comes up and it was the most beautiful ambience I have ever been in.
If I weren’t making music…I would most likely still be playing tennis. I was on the road to playing professionally but life took its course and stopped me from playing. If I wasn’t playing tennis, I’d be practicing Entertainment Law.
