Singapore, put your hands in the air, because two massive music events are headed our way later this year. Coming up first is ‘Road To Ultra’, an international series of dance music parties that debuts here this September. Next up, billed as ‘Asia’s largest festival at sea’, November’s ‘It’s The Ship’ lets you sail from Singapore to Langkawi and back while partying with some of electronic music’s hottest stars. Here’s all you need to know about both events.
Road To Ultra
Road To Ultra Thailand
Ultra Worldwide, producers of Miami’s award-winning Ultra Music Festival, launched the Road To Ultra series early in 2012. Since then, Road To Ultra has brought the house down in Thailand, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and various locations in South America. 2015 brings the epic festival to Singapore for the first time, and Ultra’s certainly pulling out all the stops this year, with headlining sets by Skrillex, Swedish powerhouse Alesso, and EDM sensation Nicky Romero.
With early bird tickets selling out in less than 21 minutes and all Phase 1 tickets sold out shortly thereafter, you know this is going to be one helluva party. General Admission is priced at $168 and Premium General Admission at $198 (Premium GA gets you Priority Entry and access to the stage front premium area and private bar). There will be no tickets sold at the door, so get them online here before they disappear.
Road To Ultra will take place at Marina Bay Sands on the 19th of September. Tickets start from $168, and are available here. This is an 18+ event. Â More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
It’s The Ship
It’s The Ship 2014 Beach Party In Langkawi
Look, we can’t put it better than this video showcasing the 2015 line-up for It’s The Ship. It’s wild. Five-star cruise liner ‘Mariner of The Seas’ leaves the Marina Bay Cruise Centre on 20th November and heads for Langkawi, where an exclusive beach party awaits. The lineup is co-headlined by two-time Grammy nominee, Kaskade and EDM powerhouse Showtek. The 40+ supporting acts include the likes of Far East Movement and Carnage.
Muhammad Iqbal, Group CEO for organisers The Livescape Group, points out that fans wouldn’t just see their favorite acts perform live onboard but also get to meet these artistes in person. He says: “When booking acts for It’s The Ship we select outgoing, sociable acts because we also want them to interact with fans via activities onboard.”
What kind of activities, you ask? The 15-deck ship features a casino, a rock-climbing wall, a basketball court, an ice-skating rink, a minigolf course, duty-free shopping, a spa, 10 pools/whirlpools, and 17 bars, clubs and lounges. Wow. If a 5-star cruise with 3,800 EDM lovers and some of the biggest acts in the business sounds like it’s up your alley, move fast to get some of the few remaining tickets here.
It’s The Ship begins on the 20th of November, with ‘Mariner of the Seas departing the Marina Bay Cruise Centre at 5pm. The ship returns to Singapore on the  23rd of November at 8am. Cabins are priced per person starting at USD588 for a 4-pax interior stateroom.
