When it comes to food trucks, Bangkokians are spoilt for choice. Scattered in all corners of the city, we are home to some of the very best ‘food-on-wheels’ that South-East Asia has to offer. In recent times, some of these food trucks have gathered such a following that they required a more permanent residence; as was the case with Banh Mi Boy!
Spring Roll With Grilled Pork
Are we complaining? Most certainly not! Now we know exactly where to find it. Now under its new name, Banh Mi Bo, this cosy little Vietnamese eatery offers a wide range of Vietnamese delicacies. Having travelled extensively throughout Vietnam myself, I couldn’t wait to tuck in. The menu may be small, but it’s evident that a huge amount of research and consideration has gone into perfecting each and every item. Most notably, the bread recipe took a gruelling 6 months to perfect!
All drinks are priced at a reasonable 65 THB and include favourites such as Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Grass Jelly Coconut, Lime Soda and Three Colour Bean. The Summer Rolls (110 THB) comprises of refreshing herbs, rice vermicelli, shrimp and pork; all encased in soft rice paper served with hoi sin and peanut sauce. For those who prefer something a little crispier, the Spring Rolls (60 THB) served with lettuce, herbs and fish dipping sauce are sure to satisfy your craving. And you can have them with grilled pork, rice vermicelli and a selection of fresh vegetables for an extra 70 THB.

Few dishes are more popular in Vietnam than its world famous Pho (150 THB). Slow cooked beef broth with rice noodles, a variety of beef cuts and fresh herbs served with hoi sin and sriracha sauce, it’s easy to understand why this dish is selling like hot cakes. Finally, the special mention goes to Banh Mi Bo’s signature dish – the Banh Mi (90 THB). Upon first bite into the bread, I enjoyed an immediate sense of déjà vu. It had been two years since I stepped foot in the land of the ascending dragon and tasted bread that came remotely close to the memory. Packed with your choice of succulent meats, fresh vegetables and herbs, no wonder Banh Mi has developed a cult following across the city.
