Renowned Japan-based Singaporean photographer ND Chow comes home after 16 years for his first solo exhibition.
In 1998, Tokyo-based Singaporean photographer ND Chow left home to discover his dream of being a portrait photographer. A spontaneous 2-year trip across the Middle East and Europe became a 16-year odyssey shooting for GQ Japan and Harper’s Bazaar HK, and pop-culture icons Pharrell Williams, Ayumi Hamasaki, Haruka Ayase and Patti Smith. Roots is his homecoming – A collection of images made during those 2-years of self-discovery, and the origins of who he is as a photographer today. It is a highly personal body of work that remembers even his mother’s passing while he was away pursuing his dreams, and includes a handwritten, heart-rending tribute to her.
