Adelphi Forty-Nine: Spacious Suites In Thonglor, Bangkok

If you’re the sort that stalks prospective vacation accommodation on TripAdvisor, you probably don’t need much convincing by us to stay at Adelphi Forty-Nine. After all, the all-suites hotel (I’m reluctant to call it serviced apartments because long term stays don’t seem to be that common but you get all the facilities of living at one) has been consistently ranking in the top 10 hotels of Bangkok on the travel site.
Located on Sukhumvit Soi 49, the property is well-suited if you’re in pursuit of interesting cafes, bars, restaurants, and boutiques that dot the neighbourhoods of Thonglor (Sukhumvit Soi 51) and Ekkamai (Sukhumvit Soi 63). Decked out in pleasing neutral hues, the lobby exudes modernity and comfort, two traits the hotel follows through on every aspect of our stay. There was a crowd in the lobby when we arrived, but even so, our feet were up on the couch of the sitting room in no more than 15 minutes. You’ll notice the neutral colour theme in the rooms are tidily accented with patterned throw pillows, paintings hanging on the wall, and a couple of well-positioned potted plants.
The entry category One Bedroom Suite is by no means small. The 50 square metres (538 square feet) of space comprises of a balcony – uncommon for hotels in Bangkok and great if you smoke -, a living room, a kitchenette (induction stove, microwave, and refrigerator included), a comfortable bedroom, a bathroom with separate bathtub and rain shower, as well as a toilet with a Japanese bidet.
There’s even a washing machine in the kitchenette if you’re staying more than a few days, or to wash anything new from your shopping haul during the trip. However, it would do holidaymakers good to note that the hotel does not have room with twin beds, all rooms are equipped with one king sized bed.
Facilities-wise, the fitness studio has all the quintessential TechnoGym equipment like treatmills, exercise bikes, weights, and more. Offering a view of the city, the swimming pool is located on the same level as the gym; not large but it’s functional if you wanted to do laps. Another perk to staying at Adelphi Forty-Nine is the complimentary shuttle to Samitivej Hospital and BTS Thonglor Station. Though the BTS is less than 10 minutes from the hotel on foot, the unforgiving sun in Bangkok can wear you out in that time, so definitely a bonus.
If your room comes with complimentary breakfast (available 5.30am-10.30am) at AZUL Restaurant by Monsoon, you’ll find the buffet spread satisfactory. There’s definitely more they can do in this department, but perhaps the demand – with so many breakfast and brunch options in area – doesn’t warrant the effort. That said, the value for money experience means we’d still return to stay at Adelphi Forty-Nine anytime.
