Belle and Sebastian in Singapore: Indie Legends Celebrate 30 Years of ‘If You’re Feeling Sinister’

Few bands have shaped the language of modern indie pop quite like Belle and Sebastian. This September, the Scottish outfit returns to Asia Pacific with a special performance and Singapore will be one of the stops marking an important milestone in the band’s history.

Belle and Sebastian arrives at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 20 September 2026, bringing with it a rare full-album performance of If You’re Feeling Sinister. The concert commemorates the 30th anniversary of the group’s beloved 1996 record, widely considered one of the defining albums of the genre.

Released during the formative years of indie pop’s global rise, If You’re Feeling Sinister captured something quietly radical: literate storytelling set against delicate melodies and understated arrangements. The record has since developed near-mythic status among fans and critics alike, with songs that have lingered across decades of mixtapes, playlists, and late-night listening sessions.

In Singapore, you can expect to hear the album performed in full; a rare opportunity to revisit tracks like “The Stars of Track and Field” and “Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying” in sequence, just as they were originally conceived. After the full-album set, the band will return for a second half featuring a selection of fan favourites spanning their expansive catalogue.

Since forming in Glasgow in the mid-1990s, Belle and Sebastian have built a reputation for intimate songwriting and quietly charismatic live shows. Their music balances wit, melancholy, and warmth, a tone that has helped them cultivate a loyal global following while remaining unmistakably independent in spirit.
