15 – 17 APR 2016 | The eighth edition of Esplanade’s A Tapestry of Sacred Music returns from 15 to 17 April 2016 with a largely free line-up of programmes featuring sacred music and arts from Singapore and around the world.
This year, the festival’s weekend programmes have been planned to encourage festival-goers to spend a full-day at Esplanade. From early morning meditation sessions to afternoon workshops and evening performances, the programmes allow everyone to explore and experience the richness of sacred art forms.
The festival opens on 15 April with Korean acrobatic samul nori performances at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. Associated with wishes for a good harvest, the performance will be a rare visual treat of a Korean traditional lion dance against the celebrative beats of hat-twirling percussionists. On 17 April, the festival closes with lively candomblé performances of percussive ceremonial dances and music associated with Afro-Brazilian gods.
A Tapestry of Sacred Music is happening from 15 to 17 April 2016 at Esplanade – Theatre on the Bay.
