Lucanna presents – Fine Art and Exquisite Luxuria Auction at the Singapore Yacht Show, 2015

Lucanna will be staging her 4th sale in Singapore held in conjunction with The Singapore Yacht Show 2015 at One°15, Sentosa Cove. The curatorial and programmatic approach by Lucanna is a point of entry point that allows your subjectivity to freely venture into other offerings from the rest of Asia and Europe. SYS 2015 aims to entertain, educate and engage the individual’s spectrum of subjectivities. With sincerity, respect and reverence for Art’s transcendental qualities, this handpicked boutique selection of art works will reiterate the narrative qualities and storytelling powers of art from a bygone era in the present tense.

Be privileged with interconnecting narratives about maritime history, and the artists’ travels as they paint as homecoming sailors. Most of all, bask in the hospitality of Art’s presence itself. Informed by arduous inner journeys and a melancholy longing from whence they departed for our port or other destinations, every brush stroke navigates the thoughts and emotional landscapes of the artist. They are at once temporal but forever restrained/tested by the dimensions of their artistic practice – a process of cathartic expression sought by onlookers exhausted of their own lexicon and language.

Artist Highlights:

With blinding hindsight where ethics meet commerce, highlighted are the emotionally-charged art works by second and third generation southeast asian artists. From the faded obscurities of a pair of Peranakan ladies by Eng Tay (Malaysia, b.1947), to the imperceptibly sublime Chinese ink-based strokes of Henri Chen (Singapore, b.1959).

Of special importance is the contemplation of Medium in Art, like the playful time-manipulating art of oils, sculptures, and mixed-media experimentation works by the national treasure Aw Tee Hong (Beijing/Singapore) that dot our island’s public spaces like train stations and hospitals. Aw’s practice, process and personality work in tandem in lifting spirits and provoking introspection as he does so often himself.

Working in matrimony of contemporary and traditional styles of art by acclaimed artist Fan Shao Hua (China/Singapore) induces a refreshing, instantly modern and delightful interaction to the collection. With a Ph.D. in research in Fine Arts in NTU, Singapore and also a winner of the prestigious “Painting of the Year Award” at the 19th UOB Painting of the Year Competition in 2000, Fan’s lotus series exudes vibrant bold strokes with expressive “ink splash” and “creased paper background” which is traditionally found in ink painting. Having successfully marrying both eastern and western techniques, the exquisite lotus plant depicted here appears to be rising and blooming beautifully above its murk.

Included in this collection are also works by POP Contemporary artists such as Andre Tan (Singapore), local based Chinese artist, Liu Xuanqi (China/Singapore), Art unit duo Studio 30 (Russia) and sculpture artist Park Seung Mo (Korea) who usually creates large ephemeral portraits by cutting layer after layer of wire mesh.

This event is in conjunction with the [Singapore Yacht Show](http://www.citynomads.com/events/networking/4884/singapore-yacht-show) and is taking place from Friday, 24 April to Saturday, 25 April at Constellation Ballroom I at ONE°15 Marina Club
