Room of Woods: New World Retro CLOSED

If you go down to the woods today you’re sure of a big surprise… but instead of finding a Teddy Bear’s picnic, which let’s face it would be simultaneously amazing and freaky, you will find a light, bright showroom full of retro-inspired, brand new furniture inspired by Danish design classics in kaleidoscope of colours. This is hardly granny chic.. far more Studio 54 in its hey day!
Recently launched, but already a favourite with those in the ‘design-know’, Room of Woods is run by married couple Yee Cheng and Chee Seong, both of whom come from a creative background. The concept arose because they simply couldn’t find the type of furniture that they wanted so they decided to go ahead and do it themselves. I am liking their thinking.
The look is uber stylish and often found in interiors magazines or the latest cafes and bars, but don’t be put off…each piece is totally customisable, from the wood to the fabric, the height and length even, so you can rest assured it will fit in with your current decor.
Experienced with Singapore’s condo and HDB conundrum, the folks from Room of Woods are well savvy in design modification and are happy to dispense advice and suggest ways in which their pieces will fit into your home. Each piece is essentially one of a kind, it’s ordered and created just for you, so you can really get your creative juices flowing and come up with something unique.
Each and every one of their pieces will enhance your home decor to dizzyingly new chic heights but (and here’s the win!) without breaking the bank. Unlike similar distributors of such furniture, Room of Woods have priced their pieces smartly and fairly.
Of course any key design piece requires some investment, but it’s not the eye-wateringly dear prices that we have seen before. With Armchairs starting at $600 and ranging to $1200, that 4 page introspective in Home & Garden that you’ve been hankering for, might just be around the corner!
