Something secret is happening that will delight all those with a sweet tooth out there. Because recently, at the launch of The Covert Cake Club, bakers found their way to happiness and a chance to showcase their cake making skills as they gathered for afternoon tea and to sample cake!
The Covert Cake Club is organised by Brunch & Co – a club / underground restaurant specializing in brunches and teas founded by Louise Tong-Davies. Always having dreamt of owning her own café or restaurant, given the huge undertaking this would be in foodie-haven Singapore where eateries jostle for space and attention, she decided to start an underground restaurant specializing in brunches and teas instead.
The Covert Cake Club launch consisted of a small and select group of thirteen keen bakers and here is what was on offer – just to whet your appetite: Tiramisu, Lemon syrup loaf cake, Date cake, Carrot cake, Almond cake with orange blossom syrup, Kentucky Bourbon Cake, Chocolate Beetroot Cake, alcoholic cupcakes, a middle eastern inspired Pistachio and Lemon Syrup Cake..an exotic Dark Chocolate and Passion fruit Mousse cake…plus much more.
Also on offer were a selection of teas and coffee and iced tea. There was no charge but attendees were asked for a nominal donation of $5 per head to cover the cost of tea, coffee etc.
A thoroughly pleasant way to spend the afternoon, the cakes were scrumptious but one can only eat so much before the sugar rush begins!
Brunch & Co’s events are open to the public. Those who are interested in sampling the brunches should visit Louise’s blog here and Facebook here for more information on their brunches, teas and themed events. Sign up on the Brunch & Co Mailing List and receive news of upcoming events.
