25 FEB 2016 | The Singapore International Jazz Festival 2016 is back with its second pop-up on 25 February, following a hugely successful show last month at SingJazz Club with Tim De Cotta and Mediocre Haircut Crew.
This time round, taking center stage is Singapore-based Havana Social Club as they treat you to a hot preview of what’s to come at Sing Jazz 2016. Formed as a tribute to the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club (who will be performing on the third and final day of the festival as part of their last-ever tour) by international funk, Latin and jazz drummer Pablo Colzado in 2013, the group features talents all the way from Cuba, Spain and Paraguay.
To get you in the mood to groove, the pop-up will kick off with a one-hour Latin dance class by internationally acclaimed British choreographer Karen Lacey. With more than 15 years of Latin fusion, jazz, and musical theatre experience under her belt, you’ll be learning way more than a few steps from this Barcelona International Dance Festival award-winner.
Step Up With Latin Jazz is happening on Thursday, 25 February 2016 at Aliwal Arts Centre from 7pm to 11.30pm. Admission is free.
