After the critically acclaimed run of Holiday in my Head, Asylum Theatre returns in 2015 with The 39 Steps.
The 39 Steps is a blissfully funny mix of Alfred Hitchcock thriller and Monty Python buffoonery. It’s a fast-paced hysterical whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre!
Adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock film, this two-time Tony and Olivier Award winning play is packed with laughs and over 100 zany characters played by four fearless actors.
This side-splittingly hilarious show follows the incredible adventures of our handsome hero, Richard Hannay, a man falsely accused of murder, as he encounters dastardly villains, double agents, and devastatingly beautiful women.
Ben Brantley of the The New York Times calls it “theatre at its finest” while The New York Post raves it is “inventively astonishing, riotous and marvelous!”
Directed by Asylum Theatre’s award-winning Artistic Director, Dean Lundquist, The 39 Steps features a brilliant international ensemble: Tim Garner (Holiday in my Head, The Boys in the Band, Take Me Out, Company), Paul Lucas (Holiday in my Head, Take Me Out, 251, The Joy of Solitude) and Victoria Mintey (A Singaporean in Paris, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Twelfth Night) with Andrew Mowatt (Holiday in my Head, Dear Nora, The Crucible).
The 39 Steps is running from Wednesday, 22 April to Sunday, 10 May at the Drama Centre Black Box.
