The Colony Hotel: Colonial-Style Digs in the heart of Seminyak

There’s something about colonial architecture that just changes the way we feel about a place, so it’s safe to say that the Dutch colonial-style The Colony Hotel has a certain je ne sais quoi that entranced us as we walked in.
Sitting in the bustling Seminyak and just 110 metres to the beach, this 21-room property is small, quiet (kids under the age of 16 are not allowed), and excellently located. Hot spots like beach club Ku De Ta and restaurant La Lucciola are also an easy stroll away.
Built around a central 16-metre pool, all 20 rooms are air-conditioned with ensuite bathrooms. As with the gorgeous exteriors of the hotel, the interior design is echoes Indonesia’s colonial past with plenty of white, dark wooden furniture, and high ceilings. Our favourite room category is the Junior Suite. Averaging about 55 square metres (592 square feet), it features an open living space and bedroom, as well as your very own balcony to hang out in. Bonus points for the large bathroom and bathtub too.
Having breakfast in bed is probably the laziest (and most indulgent) thing you can do while on holiday, and that’s exactly what you can do at The Colony Hotel. Choose from the American Breakfast, the English Breakfast or the Indonesian Breakfast.
For those who love a great massage to loosen up, you’ll be glad to know that The Colony Hotel offers an intimate massage room managed by the award-winning Jari Menari aka ‘dancing fingers’. Using slow movement, they blend long massage strokes with rocking, stretching, and palm pressure; a full-body, 75-minute massage starts at Rp. 434k.
