From the opening of Legendary Cart Noodle at Jurong Point to the unveiling of four new menus at Bread Street Kitchen, this week’s edition of The Weekly Grub gives you the lowdown on the hottest happenings in Singapore’s food & beverage scene.
Gourmet Kopi at The New Black
Kopi-o, Kopi-c, and Kopi Bing are familiar terms for anyone who wants to get a quick fix of caffeine at their nearest coffeeshop, but gourmet Kopi? Now, that’s different. The New Black’s new location at Republic Plaza will see their collection of coffee artisans and tea masters providing connoisseurs with the epicurean version of our local brew. Devised by the Director of Coffee and Education and USA National Barista Champion Bronwen Serna, coffee enthusiasts can get a cup for $6.50 each, with the sweetness of every cup adjusted according to preference.
The New Black is located at 9 Raffles Place, Singapore 048619. Tel: +65 6536 2916
New Menu at Lime House
Despite the diversity of Singapore’s food & beverage scene, Lime House is astoundingly still the only place to get authentic Caribbean food in Singapore. The recent re-jig of their menu sees all the meatiest sharing plates take centre-stage in this loveable establishment. For instance, the colossal Beef Ribs ($98) consists of a hunk of beef that comes slathered in Lime House’s house-made BBQ sauce. Other paradigms of typical Caribbean cuisine include the boneless Whole Jerk Chicken ($72) and the sumptuous Whole Fish Escovitch ($76), while alcohol enthusiasts can pamper themselves with a specially curated selection of rum.

Legendary Cart Noodles at Jurong Point
Inspired by the gritty cart noodle street stalls in 1950s Hong Kong, Legendary Cart Noodles is a no-frills takeout joint located at Jurong Point, and an extension of parent restaurant Legendary Hong Kong. Customers are able to personalise their own bowls by choosing from a total of six noodles, and matching it with a selection of over 20 delicious toppings and 4 sauces. Our recommendation? Douse your noodles in as many sauces as possible and mix it all up in the heartwarming broth provided.
Legendary Cart Noodles is located at 63 Jurong West Central 3, #03-89 Jurong Point 2 Shopping Centre, Singapore 648331.
