Voice of Korean Art Group Exhibition

Ode to Art is proud to announce the opening of ‘Voice of Korean Art’ group exhibition, which features an eclectic range of masterpieces by five eminent Korean artists. Their collective portfolio encompasses a wide variety of styles, mediums, genres and subject matters. This is a gathering of Korea’s most promising artists. The stellar roster of artists includes:

Kim Hee-Kyung

As the vice-president of Korea Sculptor’s Association, Kim Hee-Kyung channels the light of life through an abstract language. She has a penchant for using Korean paper to create abstract sensitivity. She emphasises on the softness of handmade paper, and transmutes the delicacy of the array of papers into a tough structure. Hence her work is fragile, yet strong at the same time. Kim is largely inspired by nature. She aims to capture nature’s vitality and also embrace its tremendous energy.

Lee Juyeon

Lee Juyeon creates form with repetitive movements of black lines: the vestiges of a sewing machine and thread. She draws by stitching and she uses synthetic fabrics such as urethane and polyethylene resin she had crafted, at times stitching on the canvas cloth by hand. The synthetic textiles she used feel both vinyl-like and glossy simultaneously. Her favourite subject is books, which contain topics that represent herself.

Lee Young-Ji

Lee Young-Ji is a young artist who has been impressing collectors with her drawings of trees. An arduous labour, her paintings brim with artisan spirit; each is drawn with one brushstroke after another. They have recently been introduced at the Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair as well as multiple art fairs in Korea. Her masterpieces exude the comfort of oriental paradise, and are replete with trees, birds and everyday objects.

Lee Kwan-Woo

Lee Kwan-Woo is recognised as one of the most popular and influential contemporary artists in Korea. His works feature impressive large-scale mixed media paintings constructed out of traditional Korean stamps and seals of various shapes and sizes. Lee’s use of stamps has been described as allegories of memory, instrinsically linked to time, life and nature.

Hyun-Jae Chang

Hyun-Jae Chang’s works reflect the great efforts she undertakes to answer the question of melding contemporary aesthetic sense and traditional beauty. Her artworks are the product of tradition and contemporary spirit. Dotted lines are connected by stamping colours on the image of traditional Indian ink painting —a technique that reminds one of LED-emitting elements.
