Mosaic Music Series: Kenny Barron and Jeremy Monteiro Piano Duo

For one night only, experience an evening of musical virtuosity and passion as two modern jazz masters perform together for the very first time. American jazz great Kenny Barron makes his Singapore debut and Singapore’s very own jazz maestro Jeremy Monteiro makes a return to Mosaic.

Named by The Los Angeles Times as one of the top jazz pianists in the world, the 10-time Grammy nominated Kenny Barron was chosen as Pianist of the Year in the 63rd Annual Downbeat Critics Poll this year. The veteran jazz musician has toured extensively as a band leader and also performed with luminaries such as Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Yusef Lateef and many others in a career that spans over 50 years. With over 40 albums to his name, Barron established the jazz piano and keyboard harmony divisions at Rutgers University, and now inspires music students at The Juilliard School of Music.

Known as Singapore’s “King of Swing”, Jeremy Monteiro is the recipient of Singapore’s highest arts accolade, the Cultural Medallion. He has played with the best around the world leading his various ensembles, and has also performed with many jazz greats including Michael and Randy Brecker, Ernie Watts and Jimmy Cobb. At the inaugural Mosaic Music Festival in 2005, Monteiro and his jazz trio performed with James Moody in celebration of the legend’s 80th birthday. An EFG Bank International Arts Ambassador, Monteiro is a Voting Member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts in the UK.

This event takes place at the Esplanade Concert Hall on the 26th of Aug, from 7.30pm. Tickets start at $48 and can be purchased through SISTIC [here](http://www.sistic.com.sg/events/kenny0815).
