PUBLISHED June 9th, 2019 06:00 am | UPDATED August 28th, 2019 08:06 am
If you didn’t fly out of Singapore for a summer retreat, no fret as here’s a line-up of events to keep you occupied. Party animals are in for a treat as Cherry Discotheque and local band Mantravine will impel you to raise your hands up, while delicious grubs are served at Park Bench Deli and Pasar Pink.
One Night 4 Friends
You know what they say – a laughter a day keeps the doctor away. Overcome the mid-week blues with the comedic foursome: Sara Wee, LEW, Jaime Wong and Joie Tan, as you agree (or disagree, no one’s judging) on their outlooks on first world problems faced by millennials. Think long distance relationships and even marriage, yeah we’re going there. No filters and no boundaries, simply sit back and dwell on the beauty of being a Singaporean.
Treat yourself to laughter therapy on 13 June 2019, located at the Hive Carpenter, 36 Carpenter St, Singapore 059915. Tickets are priced at $25, available here. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.
THIS IS THE 90s X Cherry Discotheque
How can you end the work week without some diehard partying? Get ready to whip out your best dance moves as you groove and boogie to nostalgic 90s tunes, accompanied along with visual projections of notable movie scenes from Titanic and Pulp Fiction to name a few. Now, take note to arrive before midnight as you want to snag the 1-for-1 drinks deals, and for all ladies out there, there’s complimentary entry for the first 100. Be quick, and immerse yourself fully in the nineties.
Put on your dancing shoes from 10.30pm – 3.30am on 14 June 2019, at Cherry Discotheque, 133 Cecil St, Singapore 069535. Tickets are priced at $30 for Ladies (2 free drinks) and Gents (a free drink). Visit the Facebook page here for more information.
Rooftop Raga – Open Air Roof Dance
After our exclusive interview with Mantravine, the psychedelic band is once again set to make a bold impression at the hipster rooftop bar of The Great Escape. However, be sure to be on your guard! An electrifying guitar, funky trombone and techy gadgets will be played to produce unique melodic improvisations like “ragas”, and combined with the fact that you can go all out to be the life of the party, it’s one TGIF not to be easily forgotten. Don’t forget to bring along your very own instrument as you jam it out with the professionals themselves.
Catch these sonic sorcerers on 14 June 2019, at The Great Escape, 100 Beach Road #11-00, Shaw Towers, Singapore 189702. Tickets are complimentary, available here. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.
Rosita’s Deluxe x Butter Sydney at Park Bench Deli
You don’t have to travel to Australia to get a taste of Butter Sydney as the well-known restaurant bar (dishing up some of the best fried chicken in Sydney) is thankfully making a comeback alongside Rosita’s Deluxe. Wash it all down with an array of champagne, and the weekend might just be a heaven for all foodies out there. Live music is the cherry on top.
Make sure to have an empty stomach from 6pm – 11pm on 15 June and 16 June 2019, at Park Bench Deli, 179 Telok Ayer St, Singapore 068627. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.
Pasar Pink!
While we’re preparing for the highly-anticipated Pink Dot, keep yourself entertained with Pasar Pink – a flea market that everyone will no doubt possess a soft spot for. Don’t be embarrassed to embrace your inner Lady Gaga as you get deck out with all sorts of whacky goods and accessories offered. It goes without saying that food is never out of the question, so tuck into baked goodness from the popular Tiong Bahru Bakery.
Show your support for our LGBTQ friends from 11am – 10pm on 16 June 2019, at Open Farm Community, 130E Minden Rd, Singapore 248819. Visit the Facebook page here for more information.
