5 Things To Do In Singapore This Week: 18th To 24th June 2018

This week we present you with a mixed bag of arts and culture with the inaugural staging of Brian Friel’s Translations in Singapore, two brilliant exhibitions happening at Lasalle and ArtScience Museum’s latest extraordinary exhibition, Wind Walkers. Don’t forget to let loose with Japan’s finest DJ Chida at Blackout Agency’s Ritual and Inland who takes over the cage at Headquarters.

Translations

Living in these volatile times, Brian Friel’s Translations cannot get any more relevant. Join a group of independent actors, predominantly Irish, as they stage this modern classic about nationhood and the turbulent relationship between England and Ireland, for the very first time in Singapore. A play that breaks down barriers, questions protectionism and relishes in the universal power of language, it stays with you long after the curtains are drawn.

Translations is running from 19-22 June 2018 at the Drama Centre Black Box Theatre at the National Library, Tickets are priced at $30 and are available here. All proceeds go to the Autism Resources Centre in Singapore.

Lasalle In June

Artist and lecturer at McNally School of Fine Arts, Jeremy Sharma will present his first exhibition, Conversions. He explores the relationship between art, travel, contingency and the dynamics of family life through the work’s non-linear narratives and ambiguous relationships between cause and effect. You Don’t Need 100 Editions: A Printmaking Project by the McNally School of Fine Arts, organised by Programme Leader Lim Bee Ling, will present 138 cyanotype prints made by students. Conceived as a platform for sharing ideas and techniques of printmaking, it will feature different forms of printmaking—woodcut, lithography, etching and silkscreening.

Both exhibitions will take place at LASALLE College of the Arts and will run from 23-25 June 2018.

Get ready to dance your head off to pure, unadulterated atmospheric club music.

All Night Long with Inland is happening from 10pm-4am on 23 June 2018 at the Headquarters. Cover charge is $25 all night.
