For something captivating to watch this week, catch both the M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival and Mexican Film Festival. Party over the weekend with Esquina’s little fiesta and The Guild’s Grand Opening but for some mid-week respite, Nubya Garcia has got you covered at Kilo Lounge.
The Guild’s Grand Opening Party
It’s official! The Guild is open for business so you know where to get your Young Master Ales and comfort food fix. The Grand Opening Party is bound to be lit so come on down to 55 Keong Saik Road between 5pm to 8pm for this major celebration.

M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival
M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival 2018 is back with its 9th edition. This year, expect to see a greater emphasis placed on local and regional independent dance artists and choreographers through a diverse range of performances, post-show talks, technique classes and workshops for all. Little Havana Fiesta
Esquina transports you to Little Havana this Sunday with their annual alley fiesta! This year, they are teaming up with Bacardi to bring guests classic rum cocktails like Mojitos and Cubra Libres while Cuban-style food like Lechon Asado (Spanish suckling pig), Tortilla de Patata will more than satisfy. All that’s left to do is to shake those hips to pan-Latin American music and later, some upbeat house to get you in the mood!

Mexican Film Festival
The Mexican Film Festival 2018, jointly presented by the Embassy of Mexico in Singapore, The Projector, and NUS Office of Alumni Relations has a curated line up of 10 films. Spanning a variety of genres from thriller to romance, these culturally rich films promise to deliver a colourful performance. Opening the festival is You’re Killing Me Susana with leading man Gael Garcia Bernal playing a man trying to get his wife back, while other notable films include Diego Luna’s directorial debut, Abel and Cristina Herrera BĂłrquez’s memorable documentary No Dress Code Required.Â
The screenings are held at both The Projector and NUS Shaw Foundation Alumni House. Tickets priced from $11.50-$13.50.Â
Nubya Garcia Live! presented by Collective Minds x Kilo Lounge
If you missed London-based saxophonist and jazz composer Nubya Garcia at Sing Jazz last year, you’ll be happy to hear that she’s back with her sax at Kilo Lounge on 5 June 2018.
Her afro-tinged jazz mixed with live electronics is the exciting stuff leading the resurgence of jazz-influenced sounds in the UK, so don’t miss out because there’s no way of knowing when she’ll be making her next appearance in Singapore again.
