Despite February being the shortest month in the year, there’s still plenty to do in Bali. From Valentine’s Day dinners and culinary takeovers to film screenings and parties (say hello to Defect Records and Craig David), you’re in for a rollicking good time.
For The Love of Vinyl
Start February on a artistic note with The Deus Gallery’s new exhibition by Australian visual artist Jason Sims. Taking the lost art of Russian x-ray records, Sims layers science and art, resulting in intriguing looking objects telling the history of the Russian black market making improvised recordings on real medical X-rays, purchased or picked up from the trash from hospitals and clinics in the fifties and sixties. Don’t miss out on free flow drinks, courtesy of Two Islands Wines and Albens Cider, all night long on opening night!

Pulau Plastik
As Bali embarks on its journey to a plastic-free island, Kopernik x Akarumput will do the launching of Pulau Plastik, a new documentary film series exploring the issue of waste which features local initiatives from across the island. Happening at Potato Head Beach Club, the event also features zero-waste tour and workshops and a special acoustic set performance by Navicula as well as Bali’s hottest resident DJs.

All Soul Everything
If you’re a fan of classic and future soul, funk, r&b, soulful hip-hop, dancehall, soulful house, and afro-house, don’t miss out on ASÉ (All Soul Everything) by Disko Afrika. Set in the stunning venue of NewEarth Haven – with views of rice fields and a vast pool – and sounds provided by Bali-based soul musician Kamau Abayomi, this is one way to start your February on the right note.

Hernan Cattaneo at Jenja Bali
Argentinian progressive house DJ and producer Hernan Cattaneo is making a highly anticipated comeback this February. His Sudbeat label has risen up as the pioneer of melodic electronic music, and his ability to weave stories from sounds had him being called on by the biggest house labels including Bedrock and Renaissance. Taking over Jenja Bali’s basement dancefloor, Cattaneo will be heating up the night with his exquisite melodic electronic music.

Valentine’s Day at Copper Kitchen & Bar
Ubud has long been projected as the discerning couple’s ideal romantic getaway, and Bisma Eight‘s Copper Kitchen & Bar has curated a four-course menu aptly named The Lovers Feast. Look forward to dishes like Tuna Tartar with Sriracha mayo, Grilled Quail with caper-parsley sauce, and Braised Short Rib Wagyu with asparagus and mashed potato. Dietary restrictions not a problem here; they’ll just tweak the menu accordingly!

Craig David at OMNIA
OMNIA’s Swim Into Saturdays will be hosting multi-million album selling and award winner Craig David’s TS5, his world-renowned DJ show with a groovin’ summer playlist. TS5 features tracks by the likes of Big Zuu, Kanye West, Yxng Bane and Drake, as well as David’s very best such as Heartline, For The Gram and hit singles like I Know You (feat. Bastille) and The Time Is Now.

Defected Bali
Following a series of sold out shows in 2018, Australia’s leading house music label Defected Records is making their way to the Asia-Pacific region, with an exclusive stopover on Bali island for a show at one Seminyak’s hottest pool venues Mrs Sippy. Lineup highlights star Amine Edge & DANCE, Sam Divine and David Penn, supported by Bali’s best such as Nukewood, Discrow and Kaiser Waldon.

Shobosho x Api Jiwa Takeover
Capella Ubud’s interactive barbecue restaurant Api Jiwa debuts its “Takeover” series in collaboration with Chef Adam Liston of Shobosho in Adelaide. Chef and his team will be chargrilling quality cuts of Australian meat, seafood, fish and offal complemented by native spices, and organic seasonal vegetables on the Robatayaki girl in front of diners. Chef will be tailoring the culinary experience (of eight to ten courses) to each diner, with items changing depending on availability, seasonality, and guest preference.
