Beerfest Asia 2013: Four great reasons to go

Beer lovers listen up! The annual highlight for all you beer monsters out there is coming up again for the fifth year in a row on 13-16 June, and that can only mean four things:
1. Beer, beer and more beer
Stout, IPA, Lager, Pilsner, Cider, Wheat, Fruit, Ale, Blonde… Just some of the styles of beer than you may have heard of…
Over the past few years it has been amazing to see such a vibrant beer culture develop in Singapore. No longer are people happy just guzzling Tiger and Heineken… These are the days of the microbrewery and boutique brewery, where uniqueness, taste and story are starting to rock the boat. Such interest has lead to the development and popularity of new bars that offer cool alternatives. Well, Beerfest Asia is about as epic as it gets in Singapore when it comes to having all the best beers from around the world under one roof at one time.
This year there are going to be over 300 beers from 20 different countries on offer to try. To put that in perspective: if the average bottle is 33cl, you’d have to drink around 100 litres just to try one of each. Anyone up to the challenge?
2. Such good comedy you’ll fall off your chair laughing
This year, Comedy Club Asia are linking up with Beerfest and providing a stellar line-up of acts that will leave you in stitches. From local trio ‘Sons of Singapore’ to international talents Tom Rhodes (USA), Stephen Grant (UK) and Steve Allison (AUS).
These acts will be performing both Friday and Saturday night, starting with Sons of Singapore at 8pm, with Tom Rhodes as the closing act at 11pm.
3. Rock out to Creedence!
Each year at Beerfest, you’ll find a rocking cover band… we’ve had tributes to Queen, Rolling Stones, ACDC…. So this year it’s time to get back to the 60s and 70s and rock out to ‘The Fortunate Sons’, Melbourne’s premier cover band of The Creedence Clearwater Revival. Expect covers of hits like Green River, Born on the Bayou, Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, and Old Man Down The Road.
And just to whet your appetite, here’s a little video of them performing….
4. Something for everyone
Let’s put it this way: kick off on Friday and Saturday is 6pm, and there’s no official ending time. Booya! Basically, stay on, drink and party for as long as you can stand… or at least crawl. Try ‘starting off’ by enjoying different and exciting beers and enhancing your palate, as we predict that after 5 or 6 beers your discerning taste may falter…
As for Sunday, it’s dubbed the ‘family’ day, starting at midday and going on until 10pm. So thirsty Nomads out there, don’t fret. Even if you have little ones, there’s still a place and time for you to enjoy the atmosphere.
