EAT U UP by Jennifer Mehigan

The online and onscreen environment is a mash-up of material that moves at a momentum regardless of lived experience. This reality typically exists as a shrapnel of data and debris to exist in and to devour. EAT U UP parodies visual tropes and charts a progression of [Jennifer Mehigan](http://jennifermehigan.com/)’s series, ‘Eat U Up’, alongside new works.

Mehigan’s work is recognised for its cybersensuality, which re-purposes autonomous objects and digital stock material to conjure or discharge the intimate. The installation, arranged as a sum-of-parts as print and video, is a parody and an amalgamation of material and sound that is immediately palpable with ones not clearly felt or heard.

Jennifer Mehigan b.1988 is an artist based in Ireland and Singapore. Mehigan combines digital work with drawing, painting and sculpture to create an interstice for inquiry into materials and approximations of form. The artist describes her genre as ‘peri-internet’. Her works are identified by use of an explosive spectrum of colour in pastel and neon to recreate a wetness or glossiness, coupled with a grunge aesthetic laced with increasingly fluid connotations of desire.

The exhibition runs from 18 – 31 July 2015 at the Substation, from 12pm – 8pm.
