This month’s MAAD is tomorrow (Friday the 7th) and expect the usual tomfoolery and shenanigans you’ve come to expect from the Red Dot’s monthly creative playground!
If you’re thinking, what is this MAAD? Then I despair….sigh deeply like an exasperated mother disappointed at your report card, and urge you to head down with haste! MAAD is the Market of Artists And Designers, a monthly Friday night combo of local creativity and imagination at the red dot design museum. It is full to the brim with original artwork, design and craft, fashion, jewellery, delicious food and beverages to keep you energetic and shopping-focused! With live art thanks to Portraits after Dark and a soundtrack of live performances by local bands and DJs. It’s a one-stop Friday night fiesta!
This month, our pick of MAAD residents and all-round inspirational folk is Panayo, an independent female fashion label designed & produced in Singapore. Think sleek sophistication with clean lines and a quiet strength that comes from paired-down, chic design.
Undoubtedly these images, taken from their Second Collection : Dark Allure (which will launching at MAAD) are stunning and capture the essence of exclusivity and luxury, but price-point wise, they are on a par with your top end High street favourites making refined elegance easily accessible.
“Unpretentious and original, (Panayo) adopts artisan approach to exemplify modern wear with simple sophistication, bold cuts & edge, seeking right concoction of classy, versatility and quality to evoke strength, confidence and self-worth. Visualize wild avant-garde tamed Prêt-a-porter design. Simple perfection.”
The name Panayo comes from the Ancient Sanskrit word (????) meaning strength/confidence and the Panayo woman is empowered, she loves fashion but is not a slave to it, she wears her clothes, the clothes do not wear her and she exudes a quiet admirable confidence. Want to be her? me too!
To find out more about Panayo, for the first public showing of the Dark Allure collection AND to see the vast array of eclectic and delightful goodies created by some pretty darn talented folk, you know what to do…
The Mad Hatter: There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.

The Mad Hatter: Which luckily I am.
…..I think he was talking about MAAD.
Weish, Instigator Afrobeat Orchestra and Resident DJ collective Minimal Simplicity are performing at this week’s MAAD
