Marvel at the photography of Annie Lebovitz in unison

If you mum is into or open to any kind of visual art, an hour or two spent mooching through an exhibition is actually a wonderful bonding experience as you take in works together, compare your favourites, and jaw-drop at others. We recommend taking her to see Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life 1990 – 2005, a blockbuster exhibition showcasing the iconic works of one of the world’s best portrait photographers.

Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life 1990 – 2005 is taking place until 19th October at ArtScience Museum, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore, 018956. For more information and to book tickets see the ShowBiz Asia website here.

Enjoy a musical extravaganza with her at Grease – the musical

You’ve grown up since the time you mum banned you from watching it and graduated to the time you can watch it together – hurrah! Now that you’re no longer a student, the timeless high school love story doesn’t feels quite as awks, meaning you can enjoy one of the best soundtracks of all time live, on stage and together before it hops on to the next stage of its tour.

Grease is running until 11th May 2014 at Marina Bay Sands Theatre, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore, 018956. For more information and to book tickets see the Showbiz Asia website here.

Have a rustic reconnect at Bollywood Veggies

For a slice of country life, head off to the far flung Krangi countryside and seek out rustic sanctuary together at Bollywood Veggies. There is something very charming about ambling through this well loved organic farm, taking in the local produce grown there and the boho vibe before stopping for lunch at the farm’s in-house eatery – the Poison Ivy Bistro (read our review here) – which offers simple and hearty home-cooked meals. The whole experience will leave you feeling refreshed and reconnected to each other.

Beat the heat together at Gardens By The Bay

It can be hard appreciating nature on our fair isle without getting a major sweat on. But one foolproof way for you and Mama not to get hot and irritable together is to head over to Gardens By The Way to explore the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest – both which are a welcome break for the relentless sweatfest we always seem to be battling. Most mums like plants and flowers, so you’re bound to score brownie points there. For an extra gold star, we recommend finishing off your visit with a dim sum lunch at Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant (read our review here).

Gardens by The Bay is located at 18 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore, 018953. For more information see their website here. To make a reservation at Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant call 6604 6604.

Treat her to champagne and oysters at The Oyster Bar

Champagne and oysters have to be the ultimate indulgence, and unless your mum is used to living the highlife it’s probably not one she regularly experiences. Make her feel like a glamourpuss in the comfort of her own home

What’s better than getting all beautified than being made to look like a stunner without having to leave your own home? Cue the folks at The Big Blow (read our review here) who will bring perfect hair and make up to your mother’s door and transform her into the glamourpuss she deserves to be for the day. Of course, it would be a bit sad to get her all dolled up with nowhere to go, so we suggest combining it with one of the above appropiate options!
