Negroni Week Singapore 2020 Goes Virtual with Negroni Chocolate Bon Bon and Campari® Negroni RTE

Up until now, Negroni Week Singapore has seen bars and bartenders have been joining forces with the folks at Campari and Imbibe to raise funds for their charities of choice. This year, the organisers are doing the socially responsible thing by taking the official activities online over an extended season from 14 to 30 September 2020. Proceeds raised will go back to the hospitality industry and communities hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

That said, nothing much beats a freshly stirred Negroni anywhere, so we’ve got the down low on where to go – just remember to socially distance in groups of five or less, please – for those keen on a drinking out experience:

Raise a Negroni in Singapore’s Bars

Working from home? Revisit Singapore’s CBD with a trip to The Secret Mermaid for Head Bartender Kelly D’Cruz’s PB & J Negroni (S$20++) – a tasty concoction of gin infused with dried fruit and nuts, barley wine (a type of strong ale), Campari, and vanilla bitters. A stone’s throw away, tipplers will also find a barrel Aged Negroni (S$32++) at Employees Only on Amoy Street.

There’re plenty of options one MRT station down at City Hall too. Inspired by Singaporean artist Georgette Chen’s painting, Bananas in a Basket,  Bananas in a Glass (S$26++) at Smoke & Mirrors pairs Campari and sweet vermouth with banana-infused cognac and salted banana liqueur. For another bar with a view, SKAI‘s Demitria Paramita presents Sakura Origami (S$22++)a Japanese-influenced cocktail with sakura vermouth and cucumber oil.  a delicately floral Lavender Negroni (S$18++) awaits at Burger & Lobster Raffles located a five-minute stroll away.

Savoury Negronis are also all the rage this year – all the better to go with food, perhaps. Look forward to a lip-smacking Smoked Olive Negroni (S$23++) at Italian restaurant Publico in Robertson Quay, while Barbary Coast‘s Darren Prasad uses toasted fenugreek gin and gherkin brine ice amongst other eyebrow raising ingredients in his Cured Negroni (S$20++). We can’t leave out L’amour Bonito (S$18++) at Tess Bar & Kitchen either; the only tall drink on this list features Campari infused with French rose and bonito flakes.

All Negronis mentioned above are available till 30 September 2020, except SKAI’s Sakura Origami (till 20 September). Most Negronis are available for takeaway and delivery; please check the websites of individual bars for more information.

Campari® x Benns Ethicoa x Majulah Movement

If you love your drink and your chocolate too, this limited-edition by Campari and chocolatier Benns Ethicoa is right up your alley. Available in two flavours – the 72% dark chocolate based Classic Negroni with cocktail-infused candied orange peel and white chocolate shelled Negroni Bianco with Campari jelly – 10% of the proceeds from each box will be donated to Negroni Week Singapore’s charity partner Majulah Movement. What’s more, the folks at Campari will match every box sold with an additional S$1 in donations!

A home-grown initiative, Majulah Movement, purchases meals and treats for people that need it the most at this time, such as migrant friends, elderly from low income families, healthcare front liners and the F&B industry.

Get your Negroni Bon Bon here, or donate directly to Majulah Movement here.

Enjoy Negronis at Home with Campari® Negroni RTE

No faith in your own bartending skills? Well, now you can indulge in a Negroni at home anytime, and courtesy of Campari® itself. A simple yet balanced execution of the classic Italian cocktail, you’ll find the usual suspects in the Campari® Negroni RTE (ready-to-enjoy) – notes of juniper and sweet citrus, spice and herbaceous aromas, and a smooth, lingering bitter root finish.

Campari® Negroni RTE (500ml, five to six serves) is available on Red Mart and selected Cold Storage outlets at S$38 (U.P S$45).
