Perspectives Film Festival gives students the skills and hands-on experience of organising a curated film festival. Perspectives’ programming theme focuses on cinematic breakthroughs. The concept of breakthroughs is broadly interpreted and can mean films that were cinematic best or first examples either historically, technically, artistically, conceptually or narratively. Breakthroughs can also be interpreted to mean films that aim to change the status quo in their form and/or content.

Students work individually and as part of a team to program and organize the festival, gaining valuable insight and real-life practice of the various aspects of putting a film festival together, including programming, ticketing, publicity and marketing, fundraising, budgeting and financial fiscal management, audience development and exhibition.

The festival is funded by the Wee Kim Wee Legacy Fund.
