Takes place at the famous Tanah Lot Temple. This cultural gathering will include the baleganjur gamelan groups from 23 customary villages in Kediri sub-district, South-west Bali, represented by their Chiefs.
The event aims to increase the sense of unity and togetherness amongst the traditional villagers. The festival will exhibit the Balinese classical art and culture.
Baleganjur is a Balinese percussion orchestra which plays traditional instruments like gongs, small gongs, portable drums and traditional cymbals. The orchestra usually comprises 25 to 40 musicians and dancers. Come and experience an art form that is the musical accompaniment for many traditional and religious ceremonies.
During the festival, there will be art performances, the chance to experience some of the unique culinary treasures of Tabanan District, jewellery, handicrafts, clothing, paintings, art forms of Hindu spiritual activities and souvenirs.
Operations Manager of Tanah Lot, Toya Adnyana, said that the activity is meant to increase the sense of unity and togetherness among the customary villages across the Kediri subdistrict and the younger generation that seems to be involved in technological development. The Baleganjur Festival is for showing the Balinese classical art and culture that are not affected by foreign influenced activities incompatible with the ethics and norms existing in Balinese society in general.
Tanah Lot Temple is one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks, famed for its unique offshore setting and sunset backdrops. Located in Tabanan Regency, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach from Kuta.
If the Baleganjur Festival is successful, it may become a monthly event at Tanah Lot.
