Tang Quartet Goes Free And Easy

Singapore’s premier classical string quartet, T’ang Quartet, launches its Free & Easy series of concerts.
Free & Easy, part of the National Parks Board SG50 Concert Series, aims to bring the beauty of classical music to the community in a comfortable setting where the audience feels at ease, doing away with the formality associated with traditional concert halls. The initiative’s inaugural show will be held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the nation’s first UNESCO World Heritage site, on Friday, 7 August.
The botanical garden has a dear place in the hearts of almost all Singaporeans, regardless of age, gender and race. If you did not visit it as a child with your family, you would certainly have gone as a grown-up, with friends, lovers or even by yourself, for camaraderie-filled picnics, relaxing outdoor performances or long, introspective walks.
‘Why not have it all? Take a walk, pick a choice spot with loved ones, pack a basketful of goodies, and sit back – or lie down – for a relaxing concert,’ says T’ang Quartet violist Lionel Tan, adding that four-legged friends are also welcomed. Besides honouring the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ newly-awarded prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site status, the Free & Easy performance begins the Jubilee weekend revelry as Singapore turns 50 on Sunday, 9 August.
Tang Quartet’s show will be held on Friday, 7 August 2015, 7.45pm at The Bandstand, Singapore Botanic Gardens. Admission is Free.
