PUBLISHED March 13th, 2019 06:00 am | UPDATED April 16th, 2019 04:59 pm
There’s nothing we love more than Singapore’s ever-changing foodscape, and this week’s line up is the perfect exemplification. New menus and dishes are aplenty this week, including Strangers’ Reunion‘s brunch offerings at Outram and Uni Tsukemen at Boat Quay‘s Menya Sakura, as well as wine and burgers at Ginett and Wolfgang Steakhouse. And if you’re looking to get through the painful wait before the Season eight in April, you may be interested in the new Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection.
Goût de France Returns to Ginett
As the newly-minted status Resident Sommelier at Ginett, Justine Le Merle is starting a series of wine appreciation workshops, with a Bordeaux masterclass on Saturday, 16 March, from 4pm — 6pm. And for pairings to go with, you’ll probably find the perfect thing in the returning Goût de France menu, which features decadent Gin-Cured Salmon and savoury Shrimp Soufflé while sipping on Domaine de la Seigneurie des Tourelles, Saumur Blanc. Available till 31 March 2019, the three-course menu starts at $55++. Pair it with Justine’s wine curation at $80++.
Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar is located at 200 Middle Road, Singapore 188980, p.+65 6809 7989. Buffet breakfast is available from 7am — 10am on weekdays and 7am — 10am on weekends, with a la Carte breakfast menu from 8am – 11am daily. New Brunch Offerings at Strangers’ Reunion
Every caffeine-addicted hipster has probably been there at some point, but Strangers’ Reunion owner and three-time Singapore National Barista Champion and World Siphon Coffee Champion 2015, Ryan Kieran Tan, is proud to launch a new all-day brunch menu that’s bound to have you back for another cuppa. Together with brunch basics like Strangers Coffee Smoked Salmon on Toast ($18.90) and Chicken and Waffles ($17.90), try out their fresh takes on classics like sinful Salmon Skin Chips ($11.90) and a hearty Roasted Cauliflower Salad ($14.50), complete with home-made pine nut labneh, juicy pomegranate, toasted pine nuts and homemade honey mustard.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse’s Burger Extravaganza
From now till 31 March 2019, internationally acclaimed Wolfgang’s Steakhouse on Robertson Quay is putting their signature steaks into mouth-watering luxury burgers. Burger Month, as it’s called, pays homage to the revered sandwich with variations of seafood, vegetarian, and healthy options. During lunch hours (or all day at the bar), sink your teeth into 28-day dry-aged USDA Prime Black Angus Beef in Classic Wolfgang’s Burger, or get uber fancy with the Lobster-filled Oscar Style Burger. Uni Tsukemen at Menya Sakura
Speaking of carbohydrates, they are sometimes near impossible to avoid, especially when they taste as good as Menya Sakura’s dipping-style tsukemen. Head Chef Sho Naganuma dives into a new flavour this month — uni (sea urchin) fresh from the sea. From 9 March onwards, try out their all-new Uni Tsukemen ($16.90), for a salty umami-packed broth alternative to dip their signature thick noodles in. And even if uni isn’t to your liking, don’t forget their classic intense pork broth in Tonkutsu Tsukemen ($12.90). For a lighter option, get the Chuka Soba ($10.90), and finish the meal with a high-ball or two.
Menya Sakura Singapore is located at. 1 Tras Link Orchid Hotel, #01-07, Singapore 078867, p.+65 9469 3366. Opens from 11.30am — 10pm from Mondays to Saturdays. Closed on Sundays.
Game of Thrones Whisky in Singapore
If you say you’ve never imagined yourself gazing out your bedroom window sipping away at a glass of wine with the same look of scathing superiority as Cersei Lannister, I wouldn’t believe you. But now your fantasies can become (almost) reality, with limited-edition Single Malt Scotch Whiskies borne out of a collaboration between HBO and spirit maker Diageo, taking inspiration from the Seven Kingdoms and their inhabitants. Show off your support for the Starks with Game of Thrones House Stark – a honey-sweet Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost (70cl, ABV 43%), or bend the knee to Game of Thrones House Targaryen – a Cardhu Gold Reserve (70cl, ABV 40%). Each bottle comes labelled with beautiful crests from each house, and true diehards should get the entire set of eight for $1188.
The collection is only available at 1855 The Bottle Shop stores, or online at AsherBWS.
