As the Year of the Rooster approaches from right around the corner, we’re starting to see festive promotions popping up from pretty much everywhere. And if you’re a big fan of everything Korean, boy are you in for a treat.
CNY Cocktails at Nutmeg & Clove
Munching on pineapple tarts, kueh bangkit, and bak kwa is great and all, but what if we told you they taste even better as a cocktail? Inspired by these festive delicacies, the ever-innovative Nutmeg & Clove has created three new cocktails for the Lunar New Year. Huat Ah! is a low ABV tipple that balances the sweetness of mandarin orange with the bitterness of Campari whereas the rum-based Prosperity Flip pays homage to pineapple tarts. A more spirit-forward drink can be found in Chinatown, which features Bulleit Bourbon infused with the iconic Kim Joo Guan Bak Kwa, balanced out with a blend of sweet vermouth and Shaoxing wine.

Tartufo Nero Season at Senso
It’s official: Senso has refreshed their a la carte menu to include the season’s finest tartufo nero (black truffles), renowned for its deep earthy tones and bold flavours. Enjoy the prized ingredient in contemporary and classic dishes like the Angus Beef Tartare with shaved Winter Black Truffles, Carnaroli Risotto with shaved Winter Black Truffles, and perhaps most interestingly, the Hot Dark Chocolate Eruption with Fiore di Latte ice- cream, caramel coulis, and for sure, black truffle – available individually or as a set that starts from $112++.
In addition, the restaurant’s annual Winter Black Truffle Brunch ($128++) will be happening on 22 January 2017, where you can expect to be pampered with an enviable spread of black truffle dishes, from freshly made pasta and risottos to such as Duck Breast with Polenta and Cod with Artichoke.

Patbingsoo Korean Dining House launches at Plaza Singapura
Will Korean food ever get old in Singapore? Brought to you by the same people who launched Seorae Korean BBQ Restaurant, Patbingsoo brings you a diverse variety of bingsu (essentially Korean-style shaved ice) and street food in a casual setting. Look forward to the much lauded Rolling Cheese Pork Ribs ($38.90), the mozzarella cheese melted using a unique ‘slapping’ technique that ensures a stringy texture, wrapped around marinated pork ribs and served with a yummy side of fries, corn, and pineapple. Of course, try the namesake bingsu offerings (between $8.90 and $14.90) with flavours like Euljiro (strawberry and cheese), Incheon (tiramisu, coffee, and rum), and the dome-shaped Sinsa, served in an entire rock melon.

New flavours at DoSiRak: Ginseng Chicken, Baby Octopus, and Kal Bi Sal
Korean food is known as one of the healthiest cuisines – with all that fermented kimchi – in the world, but the folks from local startup DoSiRak reckon they can take conscious meals a step further with its brand of healthy bibimbaps, especially with the three new flavours. Featuring lean, locally-farmed chicken, the Ginseng Chicken ($10.90) possesses fantastic antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, while seafood lovers will enjoy the Baby Octopus ($13.90), which naturally low in fat and packed with vitamin B12 and iron. Finally, get your dose of protein with the Kal Bi Sal ($14.90) beef short ribs sous vide for 24 hours for a perfectly tasty and tender bite. It’s easy to eat too: simply shake it up and your meal is served.
