Integrated malls aren’t exactly new, but by bundling offices, residences, and shopping together, there’s bound to be plenty of good food to be found. Paya Lebar Quarter is the latest project that wants to transform Singapore’s Paya Lebar neighbourhood into a vibrant lifestyle hub, with a huge selection of cafes and restaurants across a variety of tastes. From local start-ups to international chains, we take a look at the new and interesting F&B concepts that caught out eye.
Mom’s Touch
If you can’t get enough of Korean fried chicken, Mom’s Touch is for you. Reminiscent of the heart-warming way a mother prepares a meal for her family, Mom’s Touch serves up authentic hand battered and breaded Fried Chicken (S$8.20, combo) marinated with its very own special blend of seasoning for a fuller, tender, and juicier taste. Their Chicken Thigh Burgers (S$5.70) are great too, with a healthy amount of meat, vegetables and condiments neatly tucked between two soft and fluffy buns.
Mom’s Touch is located at #01-37, PLQ Mall, 10 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409057. Open daily 10am – 10pm.
Morphine Coffee
If you’re looking for your daily caffeine fix, head on down to Morphine Coffee, an independent local micro-roasting coffee kiosk that focuses on coffee and tea. The coffee beans are freshly roasted and brewed on site. The beverages’ unique flavour comes from the fact that Morphine Coffee uses local, coffee-shop style beans to pay homage to the culturally rooted recipes and brewing concepts of local coffee. Cool yourself down and have a boost on a hot sunny day with their refreshing Specialty Cold Brew No. 18 (S$5.50), served with or without milk, or their Iced Matcha Latte (S$5.50).
Morphine Coffee is located at #01-P5, PLQ Mall, 10 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409057. Open Sun-Thu 7.30am – 9.30pm, Fri-Sat 7.30am – 12am.

Take a break from meat once in a while and dive head first into the world of vegetarian cuisine with Elemen. Focusing on the health and well-being of their patrons through wholesome and creative meatless recipes, Elemen serves healthy and natural food without compromising the sustainability of the environment too. Start off your meal with the nourishing 5 Elements Soup (S$9.80) made from a selection of herbs and vegetables before feasting on the Sizzling Quinoa Brown Rice (S$15.80), a healthy and nutritious fried rice served in a piping hot stone bowl. The Wild Mushroom and White Truffle Pizza (S$16.80) is a must-have for a party of diners.
Elemen is located at #03-13, PLQ Mall, 10 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409057. Open daily 11.30am – 4pm, 5.30pm – 10pm.

Fong Sheng Hao
Heritage chain Fong Sheng Hao’s first overseas outlet humbly graces Paya Lebar, bringing patrons back in time to a traditional Taiwanese breakfast cafe. Take a bite of their signature charcoal-grilled milk toasts, made in-house with decadent milk fat and ‘old dough’ to create a unique taste and texture, and try the milk tea, sweetened with sugarcane syrup extracted from freshly-peeled sugar cane boiled overnight. Instead of heading to a coffeeshop for your breakfast, why not switch things up and try Fong Sheng Hao’s Peanut Butter Special (S$7.10), served with your choice of drink and hard boiled egg?
Fong Sheng Hao is located at #B2-04, PLQ Mall, 10 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409057, p. +65 6970 0720. Open daily 8am – 9.30pm.

Duckland
Duck’s the word at Duckland, the casual dining restaurant by TungLok Group specialising in roast duck and other duck-related delicacies. Flown in from Ireland, these fresh and premium ducks get transformed into protein-rich dishes such as Duck Confit and Waffle (S$20), Duck Broth (S$5), Duck Fried Rice (S$10), and other favourites you’ll recognise from the United Square outlet. Of course, duck’s not the only good thing here. Equally appealing are the non-duck dishes made with excellent Irish-produce, like the Irish Lamb Stew (S$22), Good Ol’ Fish & Chips (S$18), and fresh oysters.
Duckland is located at #B2-33, PLQ Mall, 10 Paya Lebar Rd, Singapore 409057. Open daily 11am – 10pm.
