The festivities kick off this week with satirical comedy Tiong Bahru Social Club, followed by a smattering of documentaries and competing film debuts from the Southeast Asian region and Singapore Panorama Shorts. Wrap up the week with an online panel discussion featuring a board of acclaimed filmmakers on Shaping Southeast Asian Identities through Documentary

Soak In Musical Cheer With A Quirky Local Production 

Directed by Jo Tan and in collaboration with the trio of big names in theatre – National Arts Council, Dream Academy and Esplanade-Theatres – Lights Up! is an inventive take on the theatrical scene in Singapore. Starring veterans like Neo Swee Lin and Lim Kay Siu, this humorous spin on the state of the arts in our present day features musical numbers from the Non-Essential Chan-Tan Songbook and renditions from classic productions like cult-classic Dim Sum Dollies and W!LD RICE’s CINDEREL-LAH!

The Meaning Behind Art During A Pandemic

What exactly does art mean in the midst of this pandemic? Find your answers at Coda Culture’s latest exhibition Precious Things. 14 Singaporean artists have come together to produce artworks with extant objects to determine the “value” of art and the questioning behind the methodologies for some. Explore what it means to craft art that presumably have an existence bordering on the margins of their “value” through the eyes of artists including Cheo Chai-Hiang, Maisarah Kamal and Veronyka Lau.
